I see many responses here about what "Exotic" means and I agree.... largely.
The game is what it is now and I'm more than happy with it.
Y1 players though (Yes I am one) are haunted by the memory of when an Exotic was truely magnificent and when one finally dropped for you it was ..... well you just have had to experienced it.
Suros, Vex and Thorn at times ruled PvP. Ice Breaker and Y1 Ghally were devastating in PvE. Read Death, Invective and Bad Juju also had their moment in the sun. It made the grind worthwhile to wield these monsters in virtual combat.
Exotics now are simply pale shades of what they were in Y1 and I believe the memory of their greatness will haunt Y1 players for some time.

Yep... Exotics to me are only collection items now. When they did that thing where you put in your account Id and it made you a small trailer of your accomplishments before the taken King came out... I had like 15,000+ pve hawkmoon kills... Since ttk I can honestly say I've used it in like maybe 1-2 missions and had to switch to something more reliable.

Thorn and TLW are now just shells of what they used to be. Oh the nightmarish, but fun times of the Crucible.

Yeah I've always favourd a Scout , Sniper/Fusion, Machine Gun Year One was. Was Scout /Mida Icebreaker/Fusion Rifle Thunderlord. Man I loved playing with Icebreaker and Thunderlord. Did not need any other exotics. The Last Word and it was fun to use that HC/Scout first year. Cause you know Bungie they want you to use everything in their sandbox exactly as they use their things in their sandbox. And if you don't they'll change things until to play their game exactly like them. Be Brave Become Legend I am alright about TLW being adjusted to match it's history. But their are some year one experiences that won't be repeated.

As a fellow year one player also, exotics are now only good for the sake of collecting them now.

Honestly, they've buffed few of the Exotics a good amount. SUROS procs more often, for one. And Bad Juju still is a godsend for super-heavy players. Red Death, still good. Really the only one that got NERFED was Hawkmoon's stack being removed. And UR's range being knocked a bit. As to PvP, I'm actually glad they did create options that match up to exotics. Otherwise, it was a contest of luck. Oh, enemy all have SUROS? GG.

That haunting feeling when you first saw and learned just how stellar exotics were back in y1, even the now "never used" exotics like Plan C, Hard Light, and even the HoW exotics (queenbreakers, LoW, and Greg's Potato) all were in that class of Truly Exotic. (Except for Greg's Potato... it was never good tbh)

I got a suros just before they nerfed it.I never played much pvp. but in pve it was so fun to charge a crowd blasting away with it lol

That has and always will be my favorite exotic. It annoys me so much that they never carried it over into the new years, but at least I can still use it in regular crucible.

Well, we don't know if it'll return. Remember that TTK dropped a few sets of Exotics in later.

Even more so considering Rise of Iron was about machines and talking about the war mind Rasputin, perfect time to drop Pocket Infinity back into the fold...!

Well put. Exotics were truly exotic when they were broken on some way. They aren't any longer. This includes armor.

Red death was pretty crazy good in pvp. I still use my bad juju though ;)
