Light isn't that important. Player knowledge of raid mechanics, loadout, and skill trump light level. I beat VoG Hard as a level 29 back in the day, without Ghorn. I think we had three 30s on that random team. That was a big deal back then, if anybody in this thread even remembers vanilla Destiny. Yes, high light helps...but I'll take squared away 360s over random unknown 380s.

  • Dude everyone was level 29 when they beat vog hard. It was the only way to 30... lol they don't call it forever 29 for nothing...

  • No, that was normal VoG. Everybody beat normal VoG as a 29, not Hard. I was a forever 29, so I know. Nobody wanted to take 29s for Hard mode. Nobody could get the boots to drop back then, but for me it was gauntlets. I made 30 with Iron Banner gauntlets, which was disappointing but still a small victory.

  • WHAT A SHOCK! A 366 PLAYER IS TALKING ABOUT HOW LIGHT DOESN'T MATTER!

  • Relax with your cap lock comments. Just starting playing this game again since ROI launched. I quit after TTK. Been playing The Division for some time. Have not even attempted WotM raid yet. But I am a Beta and Day One Destiny player. Just like level was not everything back in the day, light is not everything now. I did dabble in Iron Banner recently, and noticed a lot of 360ish players topping the leader boards over 380s. Apples and oranges, but light is light in regard to attack and defense values.

  • The thing here us that kight does matter. In fact, I say it matter more than experience. I say this because the higher your light is, the more damage you deal out and the less damage you take. Getting one shot by a shank because you are a 360 when you are empowered can lead to a wipe. I rather have noob 380s than a "experienced" 366. Sorry.

  • Nothing new here. Same argument from vanilla Destiny days. People wanting level 30s with Ghorn back in the day for VoG Hard. I'm not new here, I know the deal. I get it. Regardless of light, if a person can communicate and follow instructions well...that's who I want. As long as his light can be effective in terms of DPS and survival, then we're good. If the light is not effective, then no dice.

  • My point was that light does matter. The higher you are the more mistakes you can make. Even the OP states that he carried 3 new 380s in the raid and it only took him a hour opposed to the 6 hours with the 360s.

  • I understand your point. My counter point was simple. Knowledge, loudout, and skill trump light level generally speaking. Yes, higher light yields a greater margin for error. Smart lower light players overcome such things in most cases.

  • Indeed smart lower can overcome those obstacle but a higher light noob can not only do the same, but contribute more.
