(Rasputin doesn't count)
Why does every character speak English in the destiny universe (or whatever language you speak)
Don't you think that there would be bilingual guardians, judging by the fact that guardians came from around the world. In fact, why does your guardian speak English if he/she is Russian (what else are you doing in the cosmodrome)
Edit: also, where did oryx learn human language from

1 ReplyFleeing? Just because my body was found in Russia doesn't mean I'm Russian. Everyone was trying to flee Earth*, and I'm guessing that the only ships left were either in Russia or some obscure place Bungie didn't feel like writing. Oryx didn't learn English. He's apparently translating his thoughts and telling them to you.**
*- There were different openings for different races. The Awoken one was us leaving the Reef, the Exo one was the one we got, I forgot the Human one. **- It's really because Oryx is in a lot of cutscenes, and watching a guy speak some weird made-up language isn't going to be an interesting 20 minutes.
1 ReplyCause it's budget issues. And BUNGIE are afraid to spend their hard earned money.

Ye know, I still don't feel like I've fully grasped the meaning of what Skolas said to me that one mission...

Our ghosts are like real time translators. Sure, that's it. Translators......
-
English is standard
-
I think there are different languages tho we just don't hear them like in the tower the painted words are in different languages
-
But guardian communication is different the light in us probably translates it for us or teaches us something like that.
-
My guess in lingua franca (if I spelt that right). I can only imagine globalization as it is now intensifying with the traveler and the golden age, so English took on a role as the common language
-
We all live and have lived in one place for awhile, the city.
-
Side effect of riding around in the Tardis.
-
No one speaks Russian? My immersion was destroyed right then.
-
1 ReplySome kind of Ghost Translator?
-
On French fourm. "Why does everyone speak French really badly"
-
It was the only language that survived the darkness?
-
Most of the world knows English so everyone probably started banding together and spoke that. Eventually, the other languages died out. That's what I assume, anyway.

Variks! Get on the comms!! What's he saying???
-
Cuz if ur gunna live at this turr yours gonna learn AMERICAN and if u ain't like it move to MARS!!!!
-
I've seen it pointed out in other media but they refer to it as "common tongue". So it may be English for you, but different languages where it needs to be.
