...but it really needs its range back. I loved using Thorn in PvE during year one, and it's still amazingly fun and nice to use. The damage drop-off is just too severe for it to be useful enough to warrant the Exotic slot, however.
Since HC:s already have very steep damage drop-off values, I don't see a reason why Thorn shouldn't have its original range stat back. This would merit its use in PvE and PvP. the DoT has already been nerfed several times, and hand cannons have nowhere near the range and damage as they did in year one. I really don't see why Thorn can't have superior range, considering all the nerfs to it.
So while the gun still feels fantastic to use, it's greatly hampered by the low range for use in PvE.
Again, with the already implemented range, accuracy, damage drop-off and DoT nerfs there simply is no risk of Thorn becoming too powerful in PvP.
Let Thorn free, and give it its range back!

Is rumble a good way to boost for the pvp section of the quest? Im terrible at pvp and want to knock that out of the way asap

I got my year 2 thorn last night. I would be fine with a small range buff. But I think it needs less damage fall off (it extreme now), and the dot is useless now it should be buffed slightly, or allow it to stack like they said.
-
The current version of Thorn is average at best. There are much better legendary weapons out there. I only use it for fun and not for any type of competitive play.
-
Thorn, as it stands, is definitely not worth the exotic slot.
-
It would be cool if they gave thorn 'Rangefinder' as a last perk and have 'Mark of the Devourer' already available on the left side above Kinetic Damage, just like what they did with Headseaker on 'No time to explain'. Know what I mean?
-
It was a good gun because of it's power. Now it's no different than other hand cannons.
-
First congrats that you have Thron.....the RNG bounty drop rate has to be very small because I have seen very few thorns....I don't have one....or the gun sucks so bad nobody it using it. I think its a combo of both. For HC play BLOOM NEEDS TO DIE!!!!!!!! But I digress........... I'm getting a little tired of legendary's being better at delivering a bullet to a target then exotics. Most exotics need a buff. Exotic weapon perks are usually not good enough to make up for their lack of delivering a bullett to the target in a consistent manner better than most legendary's.

The issue isnt the rnage its the accuracy hitting head shots requires a ton if practice
-
Bump was so excited to use it again but the recent patch killed it ...

Bump.

Hand cannons in general are supposed to be closer ranged than scout and pulse rifles. I personally think the range is plenty fine. I die just as fast now as I did before, provided the person shooting me in the head doesn't miss.

I have an eyasluna with alot more range , the palindrome has more range and any well rolled legendary will have more range than the thorn or the hawkmoon. I got the thorn year 3 and gave it a shot . Played 2 matches with it and vaulted it . Its nowhere near as good as the vendor palindrome thats available for a few legendary marks. The only good exotic handcannon is TLW because it still shreds at the intended range. Thorn and Hawkmoon have been outclassed by well rolled Eyaslunas , Finalas Perils etc. and the vendor Palindrom.

Honestly people who still think Thorn needs a nerf in its current state have PTSD from Y1 (no offense). It needs a buff. People can't be scared of what could potentially happen to it and become Y1 all over again. Why do you think they nerfed it so many times plus adding the Silimar artifact? Bungie has learned their lesson about it in Y1 trust me. Or else they wouldn't have nerfed it like they did, into a weapon not worthy of being an exotic. Let it be. Leave the poor weapon alone. It needs a buff.
-
Now that we can negate DOT with an artifact, there is no harm in buffing the DOT of thorn back close to its original state.
-
Yeah the range is a little disappointing, even with Send It on but I don't mind it. The DoT is useless though. It definitely shouldn't be as strong as it used to be (7 before vs. 2 now) otherwise you'd be a fool to run any artifact other than Similar, causing zero customizability in the artifact slot. Four would make the weapon worth the exotic slot and three would justify the weapon somewhat. But two DoT. Come on Bungie.

Translation - "Please give me my crutch back!"
-
Thorn is a scrub weapon who need to git good. Yet the ones who got it nerfed should of got good themselves and counter it.
-
Just got my Thorn today. Didn't play this game before taken king so all I have is opinions and videos to go by as far as the year 1 pre-nerf version, but I wasn't all that impressed. I like vendor palindrome, finala's, ill will, and even hawkmoon better. I even got a pretty decent roll down and doubt I like better
-
It's true thorn is well balanced, if anything bad and outclassed by legendarys. Bring back the range aside from the dot that was the only thing going for it, now that the dot was needed the range was the only good thing about it, now it doesn't even have that. It's only affective outside last word range, when u could just step forward and use last word
-
The reason why the range stay on thorn was needed was because you could literally snipe someone across the map with thorn with very little damage falloff
-
It's still good, just not an easy mode anymore.
-
They made an artifact that nerfs the dot. Why not give it back its original dot and if people dont like it run the artifact. Personally i hate that pvp nerfs mess up pve use of weapons and abilities.
-
Thorn PVE good luck having fun killing nothing.
