I've been really curious about what subclasses all the Iron Lords were, and decided to dig around in the Grimoire a little bit. I just wanted to share what I found.
If you agree or disagree with some of the speculation, feel free to let me know. I'd love to hear what everyone thinks about all of this.
Lord Timur - Stormcaller
"Timur’s Stormtrance tears through a gang of Dregs as Felwinter stumbles through the shifting sands behind him, miles inland of what remains of the Arabian Shores." (Timur's Grimoire)
Pretty clear for our first one.
Lord Felwinter - Voidwalker
It smashed into the opposite wall, as tendrils of Void Light passed through it and coalesced into Felwinter’s leaping form. (Felwinter's Grimoire)
& I also found something interesting regarding Felwinter in Timur's Grimoire card. He is the only non-human Iron Lord to have their race directly referenced. I'll post a little excerpt from Timur's card below.
Timur’s Stormtrance tears through a gang of Dregs as Felwinter stumbles through the shifting sands behind him, miles inland of what remains of the Arabian Shores.
“Where are you taking me?” Felwinter rushes to Timur’s side, his eyes jumping focus, anticipating another attack.
“You seem far too obsessed with these ‘Warminds’.” Timur stops and stares into the horizon as if smelling something; not danger, discovery. He draws his fellow Iron Lord close. “Tell me, Felwinter,” he whispers, “what does the word Seraph mean to you?”
Felwinter leans in to whisper back. “Old Earth theology? I know its power well; one can make great use of the traps of faith and its myths.”
“Damn you, Exos!” The whisper game abandoned. “Do you even ponder the before? Or that number etched into your ‘flesh’? Do you see yourself in your dreams? Th—”
A shank. Then another, then more. Felwinter hits the ground and reaches for his sidearm. Timur hates interruptions and his face shows it. A wash of Arc Light grows in his hands and erupts as the pack of machine dogs falls nearly in unison.
Timur grabs Felwinter, bringing him back to his feet, and says, “Have you ever wondered what it is that calls to you in that void of memory, where the edge of the past infects your present?” He returns to his game of whispers. “It’s an itch you can’t scratch, isn’t it? Well maybe you can.”
“You think I am one of them? That all Exo are—”
“Lord Felwinter, I know what you are. And you are no Warmind or even one of its puppets. Come. You must see this.” He makes a gesture like he’s casting a spell over the sand. “Follow my footfalls; this area’s rigged with dirty Fallen nonsense.” (Timur's Grimoire)
Lady Skorri - Sunsinger
"Hunters up top, 11 o'clock on the ridge. Two shots to the Servitor, draw their attention up. I come in with Radiance, Dregs are blinded, Jolder's powered up, she rushes in, splits 'em in half. You hopefully don't trip over your cloak like you did back at the Flood Zone, but I'm not optimistic. The rest come out of the cave, take out the Captain, Felwinter finishes off the south group with a Bomb, everything else is candy." (Skorri's Grimoire)
Skorri's Iron Bond Description "Rise above, so that you may lift those below." (Likely a reference to either buffing your team via Song of Flame, or Self Ressurecting to resurect your team as well)
Saladin's refers to her songs, as well does her Grimoire. (Again, Song of Flame.)
Also, her Artifact reduces cooldown of your teammates' Supers, if yours is fully charged. (Sort of a Song of Flame reference, since it reduces cooldowns if you have Radiance active. It can also be seen as a Fireborn reference, since if most often if you're using Fireborn, you're holding onto your super until something goes wrong.)
Efrideet - ???
I literally cannot find anything leaning one way or another for Efrideet. I assume she would be the third subclass for the Hunter (so likely Gunslinger, if my assumption for Gheleon would be correct.)
Gheleon - Nightstalker (?)
Memory of Gheleon, which is essentially combining the perks Keen Scout(Nightstalker) and Third Eye.
That could also be a subtle reference to the Year 1 IB Weapon, Gheleon's Demise, which was a Scout Rifle.
Since there is so little information on both Efrideet and Gheleon, it could easily be the other way around with Efrideet as the Nightstalker and Gheleon as the Gunslinger.
Perun - Bladedancer
Perun is the Slavic god of thunder and lightning.
"Your mark be made, by thunder's crack or lightning's strike." Mantle of Perun
Jolder - Striker
"But Felwinter’s momentum continued into a knee-lift that smashed into Citan’s head as the larger man reared back to strike. The Warlord fell, the front of his helm shattering. Felwinter landed next to Citan’s prone body.
“Lady Jolder taught me that. I can’t say the Iron Lords haven’t done me any favors,” the voice intoned. " (Felwinter's Grimoire)
&
Her Artifact, Memory of Jolder completely eliminates Sprint Cooldown. (Could be a direcct link to Shoulder Charge)
Radegast - ???
Radegast was a Slavic god, like Perun. However, he was the god of hospitality, so that doesn't help much.
There's four Titans, so its a fair guess as to what subclass he would have been.
Honestly, other than that I have nothing.
Lord Silimar - Defender
"Come, is there none who can stand against the Iron Wall?" - Lord Silimar (Memory of Silimar)
Miller, Matt (2016) Game Informer Issue 281 - Rise of Iron Cover Story. p.45."Silimar was proud, wrathful. and brilliant, and the architect of the Iron Temple that sits atop Felwinter Peak. He was a defense-oriented Titan, always looking for a way to offer better protection."
This could also just be a Titan thing, seeing as Zavala is very defense based as well, and we don't know his subclass.
Saladin Forge - Sunbreaker
Honestly this is just pure speculation based on his name. It comes from the description of the second part of the Sumbreaker Subclass Quest.
"Seek the remaining Sunbreakers at the Burning Forge on Mercury."
Iron Wolves:
Apart from their Weaponry, and vague references to them in the Grimoire, I have nothing about the Iron Wolves. These would be Ashraven, Bretomart, Colovance, Deidris, Finnala, Haakon, Nirwen, Tormod, Weyloran

The Warlocks you are right. However, i believe that Jolder was the Void Titan, Silimar the Sunbreaker and Radegast the striker. Jolder wears her machine gun, its great for ward of dawn defending (rocketlaunchers dont do anything inside the bubble) And her sprint artifact allows her to move quickly fron place to place so she can defend critical area's. Silimar, the artifact has solar energy displayed around it. And if you are unleashing hammers i the crucible, you wanna be unstoppable and not die from the poisonous thorn or other DOT effect. It would make sense to me that radegast as a striker has his sword ready in the middle of the battlefield up front. Swing swing swing Titan smash! And since he is up front, a reflecting blade would be handy. I believe that Gheleon is the bladedancer (the grimoire referres to her blades). The artifact gives a detailed radar, wich is perfect for bladedancer scouts and their invisibillity. Gheleons demise is excellent with this. Perun is most likely to be the nightstalker. Nightstalkers shoot tethers on mayor threats (supered guardians, high level enemies) and her artifact highlights points of interests. Her peruns fire fusion rifle is ideal for it as well, you might wanna know exactly on who you wanna close in on with a slow charging fusion rifle. Efrideet, she is the leader of the banner now. And since the only subclass left is gunslinger then she is probably one. Gunslingers also makes goof kills in crucible.
-
I agree with this. I think Efrideet is a Gunslinger, especially since she's known as a great sniper, and gunslingers "live for the perfect shot." Total speculation, but it seems to fit well enough. Jolder could be a Striker or Dawnbreaker, I personally think the latter because when she detonated the bomb it was a fiery blast, not electrical looking. That could also mean nothing though.
-
1 Replyi think Radegast is a defender because when you think about it, he united all of the iron lords under one Banner, and like you said, he is the Slavic god of hospitality, and bubbles provide hospitality to guardians.
-
1 ReplyBut why isn't Jolder a Sunbreaker??? The weapon she had is called JOLDER'S HAMMER Plus Sunbreakers have a shoulder charge type move, the Suncharge
-
9 RepliesEfrideet is a Titan lmao not a hunter
-
11 RepliesUhm... You know guardians can switch subclasses right?
-
My guess is Gheleon is the gunslinger for the sole fact that he throws knives.
-
I think Felwinter may potentially use 2 subclasses. If you continue to read Timur's grimoire there's a line that says Felwinter returns to Timur "shielding himself in the Light of suns". Potentially Radiant skin?
-
4 RepliesI don't know if they had subclasses honestly they where not guardians so does it still apply to them?
-
8 RepliesColovance was a student of Timur, and thus a Warlock Deidris has a Hunter artifact named after him
-
8 RepliesEdited by :(: 10/5/2016 3:50:17 AMGheleon was a gunslinger. "Gheleon wears three knives. Their names are Swiftling, Occam, Quietus. They did much of the work at Black Lona, in silence and at speed. …Gheleon flips Swiftling and catches it by the haft. He throws it, a single smooth motion, and it shatters a Fallen tibia. He flips Occam and throws it. The knife clatters off an Ahamkara vertebra. He flips Quietus and—"

1 ReplyGheleon thrown knives in his grimiore, therefore he is a gunslinger.
-
Saladbean is a Striker.
-
Someone down on the comment said something in the comment section that is interesting. I don't think only 9 subclass existed there maybe more
-
2 RepliesStands to reason that the story of Rasputin being an exo may still be true.
-
I thought Gheleon would be a blade dancer considering how he has 3 knives and he names them. In the night stalker quest it said night stalkers understood the value of a fire team so that makes sense for Perun and for Efrideet I guess gunslinger because she is a sniper? On Rhadegast I guess sun breaker and same for Saladin considering how they are the only ones left.
-
4 RepliesYou're making way too many assumptions here. Thunder means Bladedancer?.... We don't even know the class much less subclass?...
-
Edited by Spicy: 10/6/2016 10:43:39 AMI believe in gheleons card it mentions he uses throwing knives. And bones as armor, including an ahamkara bone, this also may link to the young ahamkara's spine which is coincidentally gunslinger exotic.
-
4 RepliesBretomart was a titan of some sort, look at the artefact on my titan it's clearly a titan helmet
-
Guessing Radagast was striker
-
Skorri didn't die, she just self resurrected
-
54 Replies
Lord Felwinter - Voidwalker
*Striker
-
8 RepliesHonestly I believe powerful guardians can use their own powers. Also before destiny even came out it came to my understanding that your powers are the powers you possessed before you were revived and brought in to the light. But that doesn't make sense when it comes to the iron lords. Hmm
-
12 RepliesPerun is my new favorite Iron Lord.
JK it's Jolder because anyone who can wield a Machine Gun as a primary is super cool in my book.
-
1 ReplyThe Iron Lore is one of the best parts of Destiny.
-
So you're telling me Bretomart is just a punk?
