Just leave the ranking off everyone's public profile (make it unable to be viewed by anyone) so we don't have the 12-year olds bragging to everybody about their rank. Think about it. There's no rank for anything else in the game that's displayed on your profile, for both raids and Iron Banner and Trials. The emblems are the achievement, and if skill-based matchmaking were to be overhauled and reinstalled in ToO, any ranking system it uses should be private, or only available by 3rd-party source, like Elo. I believe Bungie uses Elo for skill-based matchmaking anyways so I don't really see a need to change it up that way.
Other than that, though, I do partially agree with you, but Trials is a self-described tournament - with win-based matchmaking you are essentially working your way up a bracket to get to 9-0. What they need to do is combine SBMM and win count, but that would likely cause matchmaking time to increase significantly.

Like I said you will have the jerks, but ranking is there more so to keep Bungie honest. If you and your team are Iron 3 and you get into a lobby full of gold 3 and it keeps happening then you know the systems broken, it allows us to hold bungie accountable.

Yeah, I can definitely see that, I guess. Bungie doesn't really pay attention to our reports though, and tbh Elo is good enough to use for SBMM. Not perfect, but not awful. Once again, the stat doesn't have to be completely hidden, but it could be revealed on a 3rd party site. Just don't think it'd really be fitting to put on a profile.
