Destiny 2 being a fresh start is a terrible idea

So recently , there's been leaks , saying that Destiny 2 might be a fresh start . http://kotaku.com/sources-destiny-2-coming-to-pc-aims-to-feel-like-a-to-1787153460 Let's face it , throughout the course of Destiny , Bungie has made a lot of mistakes (nerfing autos to the ground , bad rng rewards , cryptarch decrypting at wrong rarity etc.) , but making it so progress won't carry over to Destiny 2 would be THE BIGGEST OF THEM ALL . Now so far this is just speculation , but if that turns out to be true , the hate train will be going back on tracks . Leaving everyone's progress behind would basically be equivalent to deleting everything we've done so far , basically saying "yeah , all of that didn't matter" . I mean , just imagine , you've spent hundreds of hours , if not thousands , playing Destiny . You've obtained all the raid gear , every single exotic , every shader and emblem and probably spent hundreds of dollars , but you would start the Destiny sequel just like someone who's brand new to Destiny ? That doesn't make any sense . I understand how gear might be a problem , but they could just reduce everything to 1 light level or make it impossible to equip them in the crucible . But what would shock me the most is if emblems , shaders and ships don't carry over . Those are basically your guardian's story . RIght now , just by looking at people's cosmetic items , you can tell they bet the Vault of Glass because they have chatterwhite , you can tell they went flawless because they have the eye of osiris , you can tell they got moments of triumph year 3 because they have the emblem . What's the point of having all those if they're gone a year or two after their release ? Those items represent our story and accomplishments , and they DEFINITELY shouldn't be left behind . Destiny was meant to be about building our own legend , not becoming a nobody every 3 years . I love Destiny and its universe , and I've grown extremely attached to my characters and the deeds I accomplished with them . If they don't carry over to Destiny 2 , there's no point in buying the game .

  • I'd be ok if they let me get my gear from last game after the campaign or had my character from Destiny have at least some impact on the story.

  • Yeah, with a game like Destiny, and how infusion works, there's literally no logical reason to force the entire player base to leave their characters behind at all. It'd be a really terrible move on their part.
