how many miles are in a 3k?
Ive heard 2 answers, 1.8 miles and 3.1 miles. Also what does the 3k stand for, yards,feat?

1.8 miles = 3 kilometers

Yeah, in that case your friend is right. No, I have never run a 3k. Or even a 1k. I've walked a 20k.

A friend told me, "1 kilometer is equal to .62 miles so a 5k is 3.1 miles and a 3k is 1.86 miles."

I'm thinking Yards here. Three feet per yard. 9000 ft. 5280 ft per mile. I would say about 1.8 mi.

Kilometres, probably. There are about 5/8 of a mile in 1 Kilometre. I find that a useful number to remember.
