Goodness sakes, I cant say this enough, please don't remove old classes and gear from the game in Destiny 2. I've worked my poor thumbs off trying to get this gear, and I don't want it all to go away. The gear is one of the reasons I like Destiny more than Halo. The fact that I could carry over my gear is why I even bought Rise of Iron. If you make me start over in Destiny 2 I will literally track your employees down one by one
Just Joking
. But really bungie, this game will lose so many players if it restarts. Come on guys of the Destiny community, did you really grinds for days in strikes, raids, Iron banners and Trials Flawless runs to have it all taken away. We need bungie to see this, before they ruin it all.
Edit: So I've heard all of your sides, and here is what I think would fit Destiny 2 the best. Unless I can keep all of my gear.
You start as a new character, a new subclass of guardian, the opening cut scene enters on a tale of the original, 'Guardian" (If you were a Original Destiny player it would look like your guardian the day before the game came out.) And talks of the wonders the Guardian preformed for the old tower. It also tells of how He/She fell in one final battle for the City. Then there is the new Story, where at one point you get to meet the ghost of your first guardian who tells you about Him/Her, new campaign and new gear. But then at endgame, original Destiny players get to get sent on a quest that redeems their favorite emblems shaders, ships and sparrows. Maybe even a few choice pieces of Exotic and Legendary Gear. The also get to design an Artifact and name it after their previous guardian and give it special powers.

Nah, fresh is good

I'd be fine with it honestly. Destiny 2 sounds to be a completely different title. Sounds more like an RPG then a shooter and it's got more depth. I can restart for that. If it was more of the same of destiny 1 then i'd want my gear still.

Edited by Solargeo: 9/29/2016 2:20:27 PMWhy not have the Same Character, you can import your toon, shaders, emblems, sparrows , and ships, nothing else. that means no old gear. If you start at Destiny 2 well, tough luck. anyway the story would have a few different cutscenes depending if you are using an exported toon or not, and the sub class thing im not touching with a ten foot pole. .. I would say have them unlocked . Just they are at total base . basically your starting over , but have your old power stripped. ( yes I am away Metriod loves to do this.) total new guys and gals can hear about the legacy of the Destiny 1 Guardian . Also Destiny 1 plays can transmog their stuff in to their fav exotics if thy want.

I am all for a "fresh start" - but there is no reason the difficulty of encounters and "light" can't go higher ! there are higher numbers than 400 ! Also, why have we been level 42 since Taken King ? the levels can and should go higher - the LIGHT level on gear should go higher ! I would be very disappointing for people like me who've put thousands of hours into this game since the beta to have all our work and time investment in getting gear, doing raids and activities, and our characters - to have them flushed. Sheesh - is this a 10 year game or just a 10 year plan for sequels ?
-
I feel like what they did with RoI and all the gear should be the formula for the future. New subclasses? Just add them along with existing ones
-
Stop crying and move on.
-
Carry over characters, grimoire and consumable type things. Leave guns behind
-
I have put over a thousand hours into this game, and have a full vault of memories. I have 100% of the trophies up until RoI. At first I was heart broken, then I started to look back, I have had a great time playing this game. I have met amazing people and the legend I became will persist regardless of a fresh start because of the people I shared it with. So fresh start or importing characters it makes no difference to me. I will still have my fireteam.

For me it just depends on how they execute it, if they do it in some epic way that it makes sense in the story then fine, it could be great. If it doesn't make sense and is just a way to prolong the grind then that would suck. I don't think they've made any official announcements that this is even happening though, so I'll just wait and see.
-
It honestly needs to restart.. Or you'll be complaining after a week of Destiny 2's release. You want it to be a new game, not a DLC.
-
Get over yourself.
-
I want to change my mains looks desperately.
-
I wanna have my Grim Citizen!
-
I think gear should be transferable, but characters should not. The gear would have minimum light level (e.g: 3), and wouldn't be equippable until the character had reached the right level. This would mean you could keep endgame gear but it wouldn't give too much of an advantage.
-
I could see D2 using entirely new character but there is lore around the D1 characters, we are all iron lords now.
-
There should be hard reset and full wipe before transition to Destiny 2 so that everyone could start fresh without any advantage. I'm sure all the sweats will be on top in 2 hrs after launch regardless.
-
at some level your character will still be there (appearance) maybe not the weapons or armor but if you look at it that will always happen in video games as space is limited. mass effect did this and it rewarded you with your choices for the next game; guns and armor never made it to the next game. just let it go, move on.
-
Yes exactly my gosh if they want to make a new game name it somthing else if it's not gonna link with destiny 1
-
-blam!- off. I want a new game. If they let you carry stuff over then itll just be another expantion. I do think year 2 players should get a special emblem and maybe even some kind of throw back exclusive gun, like ice breaker or gjallarhorn or something.
-
I hope everything is completely changed and new. Bungie really screwed up Destiny overall and maybe this time they will learn from their mistakes and make the greatest mmo of all time. If they get assistance from Activision and Blizzard to make a 60fps Destiny OPEN WORLD MMORPG with perfect balancing, we might have a game as popular and impressive as World of World that we will never be able to stop playing. I don't even want to think about how much money they would make This actually could already be happening because Overwatch was originally supposed to be an mmo, so maybe they decided to put more work into what I think is a better platform for and mmo Who else would love for this to happen? Let Bungie know what we want and let me know what you think. I would actually never stop playing this game
-
Nah nah nah, I have max grimoire, I have every year 1 god roll, cloaks and what not and All the rare emblems as well, BUT look at my ID "SALMANFISH3456" ( don't ask how or why -.- ). I'd really like to switch accounts to an ID that actually sounds cool but I can't do that unless they completely restart the game, so I'm hoping for a total resets.
-
The way I see it is like this: If you have a Destiny save file when you boot Destiny 2, you'll (maybe) have different starting gear, dialogue or cinematic, emblem, etc, but not the same gear you had that carried over. Grimoire will most likely remain as well, considering it's also online on bungie.net.
-
I disagree, I think bungie should get rid of all of our gear maybe keep cosmetic things such as emblems and shaders, however if they bring over weapons and armor it should just be as skins, if they constantly keep old things in rotation it will limit what they can do in the future and they will have to balance destiny based on the stuff from destiny one.
-
Ok firstly. I want it to feel like a new game not just a larger expansion, I remember the time when I first started destiny and I had crappy weapons and no idea of what I would be doing. I want to experience that again instead of just playing it like an expansion. Secondly, you didn't "work" for anything, this is a video game not a job. This is a game that you bought for entertainment. If you're not having fun doing something then don't do it, but don't call it working.
-
Edited by TheANSER42: 9/29/2016 2:13:04 PMMy idea. You start as a new character and your character mentors them. At the end you get the legends key. This gives you access to the legends vault which is where all your destiny one gear will be. It will be at light level 3 of course due to degradation but it can be infused. This also stays with destiny ones tag line of "become legend". Your new character will carry the torch for your destiny one character who has already become a legend.

It's just a game dude. I'm sure we'll all survive and get over it.
