Goodness sakes, I cant say this enough, please don't remove old classes and gear from the game in Destiny 2. I've worked my poor thumbs off trying to get this gear, and I don't want it all to go away. The gear is one of the reasons I like Destiny more than Halo. The fact that I could carry over my gear is why I even bought Rise of Iron. If you make me start over in Destiny 2 I will literally track your employees down one by one
Just Joking
. But really bungie, this game will lose so many players if it restarts. Come on guys of the Destiny community, did you really grinds for days in strikes, raids, Iron banners and Trials Flawless runs to have it all taken away. We need bungie to see this, before they ruin it all.
Edit: So I've heard all of your sides, and here is what I think would fit Destiny 2 the best. Unless I can keep all of my gear.
You start as a new character, a new subclass of guardian, the opening cut scene enters on a tale of the original, 'Guardian" (If you were a Original Destiny player it would look like your guardian the day before the game came out.) And talks of the wonders the Guardian preformed for the old tower. It also tells of how He/She fell in one final battle for the City. Then there is the new Story, where at one point you get to meet the ghost of your first guardian who tells you about Him/Her, new campaign and new gear. But then at endgame, original Destiny players get to get sent on a quest that redeems their favorite emblems shaders, ships and sparrows. Maybe even a few choice pieces of Exotic and Legendary Gear. The also get to design an Artifact and name it after their previous guardian and give it special powers.

What does it matter if they make us restart or not? We've been doing the exact same thing since the game came out. Grind for max level/light.
-
In reply to your edit. Thats a good idea, go to the old tower and get what you can while fending off waves of enemies
-
I've said this in other threads on other sites, but if I don't get EVERYTHING to transfer I am ending my journey and will be fine with it. I don't care what kind of special snowflake emblem I get, them doing a total reboot is not respecting my time I put into the game and not living up to their 10 year journey that they promised from the start.
-
So much for being a 10 year project. I guess it's a 3 year then start from scratch project, which is BS. Just another lie we have been told.
-
I think they should let you keep your shaders, emblams, emotes, and ships. They could start them game out with a cut scene thats says "its a new age guardian, time to get to know your new ________" I think though that destiny 2 should be the refined product that destiny 1 helped to build, and guardians who put in the time can show there destiny 1 items to prove they were there. Destiny as it sits is too cluttered with things that dont make sense, and a weak storyline. Destiny 2 has a chance to be much cleaner, and i think we should all embrace that. Plus, if anyone from destiny 2 wants the old stuff.... they can go play destiny 1. Bungie has created a culture of hoarding with out the foundation of lore and economy needed to sustain hording.
-
I think rebuilding destiny from the ground up is a good idea. Though I'd appreciate it if they gave us some kind of cameo to our original gaurdians. Refer to them as "The Lord Gaurdians" or the "Gaurdians who became legends"
-
I think Destiny needs to be rebuilt at this point. Bungie has arguably made several things better since launch. But I don't think we will get the game we really want/expected by patching the existing frame work.
-
I think Destiny 2 needs to make everyone restart in order to be successful and entertaining. They need to take away everything (with the exception of some things that don't affect gameplay like shaders, emblems, etc.) and make us start again from level 0. Otherwise we will be forever stuck in the same cycle of recycled content and playing the same things the same way over and over again.
-
I think it will be fun to start over, with a new story, new engine and stuff But I'm worried about lore, what about our current character? What happens to the Iron Lords after the Iron Lords are Reborn?
-
I'd prefer to keep playing as the same guardian, but wouldn't mind starting over gear wise.
-
I really hope destiny 2 is just a completely new slate. Destiny 1 has too many problems.
-
Shit happens, it's a game. Destiny needs a good washing. More skills, more ways to play instead of three flavors of DPS, more to do besides the same year one patrols. A fresh start sounds great. It's stale as -blam!- right now.
-
Personally, I'm tired of the meta constantly shifting between certain guns. I want a Destiny 2 without the Last Word, or the Matador, or the MIDA, or even the invective. I feel like the game will just get stale with the same exotics coming back over and over again at the top. And I've only been playing since HoW; I can't imagine how someone who has been playing since the beginning feels. I personally want only cosmetic things to go forward, like shaders, emblems, ships, and emotes, as well as grimoire.
-
I don't think they will loose any players other than whiners that want everything that given to them. No other game series transfers to the new game, why should destiny be different? Besides, if this fixes all the BS, I'm 110% for it.
-
This game is not that great. If they ditch it all to revamp and make it like it was originally advertised, I hope they burn this trash down.
-
Edited by G Man: 9/29/2016 4:24:13 PMSo? I'd rather start from the beginning. I just want my grimoire score and emblems to transfer
-
I'm not surprised, this game has been badly run from the start and it's going to keep being badly run until Activision replaces Bungie. They've lied constantly, ignored proven issues and blamed gamers for them and now this.
-
I think Mass Effect did this the best, if you were max level, your imported character came in with an experience boost. if you had maxed cash and found all resources, you got a significant boost to both and it automatically converted your class choice into the new equivalent. this is by far the best system I have ever seen implemented. Bungie should take a leaf from BioWare's book here. they even KILLED you to make it relevant.
-
This game is grinf you cant get grind if you cant start new its a new dam game like seriously.
-
I don't think they would because the ps4 exclusives are set for fall 2017, wouldn't make sense unless they are transferring them.
-
I think they shouldn't do it, other mmo type games dont reset at every major release, why would this one. I think itd be f'ed if they do, what about how bungie wanted to be loyal to the collectors ant not let everyone keep what they didn't pay for? Where's the loyalty to all of us huh? We year one players put 170+ dollars into the game, id rather not have that wasted on nothing
-
Almost 1800 hours in the game. If all that gets left behind then I really don't know if I'll play d2.
-
You know you can still come back and play this game right? It's just going to be a new start in Destiny 2. It doesn't mean they're getting rid of your progress. Just not carrying it over.
-
It honestly depends. If they make the game with all features we actually really need (not re-using the same areas for missions, 6+-man patrol, content which caters to both PvP and PvE..etc) it might be good to start over. However, I do thing one thing is crucial. People have been complaining that the lore in Destiny is crap. For the first year, it was. The second year, it was pretty good. So if Destiny 2 will be a reboot/sequel, let it make sense in the current game why. If it's a reboot, finish the current story we have right now and make our Guardian Legend. Reference it in Destiny 2, perhaps through a statue, quest or something. Let us actually fight the Darkness or a great, story-heavy enemy which we cannot possibly win. And we wont. Our Guardian will die right then and there, leaving nothing but our old Ghost which will tell our tale to the next generation of Legends. If it's just a simple reboot of "Remember Destiny? Here, do everything again. Earn every Exotic, Grimoire and weapon again. We've upgraded the graphics and will put more stuff in it now because we lost the old-gen consoles" then I will be out.
-
As long as they release a full game at launch and not the barebones crap like D1, I'm happy.

Nah, fresh is good
