I believe removing elemental primaries actually provided less variety, even when Bungie was adamant in stating "removing elemental weapons will diversify loadouts.". Now all people use is Zhalo or the few weapons that are at the top of the "meta". With elemental primaries, we naturally would have more options for our loadouts. Plus, they're really only useful for burns; other times you'll find yourself using your favorite weapons. But wait, I forgot Bungie wants us to play their way, regardless of fun or tedium.
