A list of mistakes Oryx made
This is from my viewpoint but I feel like Oryx made many mistakes and I am going to list as many as I can off the top of my head.
1. He got angry and let it cloud his judgement.
2. He let the Awoken provoke him into destroying his own fleet.
3. He didn't simply take the Awoken (we have light, what's their excuse?)
4. He apparently thought his crazy powerful Dreadnought was not enough on its own to get his revenge.
5. He didn't retreat to regroup with whatever reinforcement he was waiting for (this one is obviously his ego more than his anger)
6. He didn't bring said reinforcement with him in the first place. (Is he pissed or is he arrogant?!)
7. He could have taken the rest of the Sky Burners.
8. Only one outer weapon on his dreadnought? One well aimed cannon on the outside and we would have been screwed when we boarded.
9. He, or whatever hive, left those invisible bridges around. Without those we wouldn't have made it any further in.
10. Was the same trap from the chamber of night not an option on his dreadnought?
11. He could have pushed more with his army (He killed an intergalactic government of many races that had the benefit of light. We should have been easy.)
12. He didn't seal the way in to Crota's ascendant realm.
13. He didn't have ANY of the six death singers sing us to death at the funeral. (Yet he let the Taken Primus and ogre try to kill us just to prove our strength.)
That's all I got at the moment.

1 ReplyNot as bad as Crota Invulnerable to all mortal weapons, but has one of his knights run round with one of the few weapons that could kill him. Just in case you can't manage that, the knight will respawn with a new sword so you can have more attempts to kill his boss Mini-Crota saw this stupidity and decided to copy it as well

14. He was like 300ft tall in the raid and could have easily just swooshed his hand around a bit and killed us. But I suppose specific hand slamming works just as well.

Since he can make taken spawn anywhere why not just spawn them all on top of us

17 Replies1) We killed his SON. That's a pretty big reason to be angry. 2) He didn't destroy his own fleet. Mara's attack tore most, if not all of his ships apart. All his breach did was scatter the pieces further. 3) They have their loyalty to the Queen. In order to Take them, he has to be able to get them to accept his gift. It would have been far more difficult to corrupt beings with a strong core. 4) The reinforcements may have been as a way to wage a war of psychological attrition. It seems that Oryx doesn't just seek to win, but to devour hope first. 5) I think the Dreadnought was crippled from Mara Sov and the Sky Burner's attacks on it. Had weapons, but no long-distance flight. 6) I think he underestimated the power of both the Awoken and Guardians. He expected that the fleet would simply sweep through the Reef, take out the Awoken, then cut the Tower down. 7) He could have, but that might have exposed him to depleting his power instead of focusing it on killing the Guardians 8) The ship hardly needed any other weapons. We got HELLACIOUSLY lucky that we suvived. 9) Without a Ghost, that would have been a great deterrent. His forces could get across, but most couldn't. 10) He presumably could have, but didn't feel that you were a significant threat. 11) His beef was less with the Tower, more with US. 12) I don't think Hive Gods can dabble in each other's realms, particularly. 13) Perhaps once they begin the ritual, they MUST complete it, and cannot change hymns without destroying Crota's soul

That's literally the whole purpose of the Court of Oryx. & 2) Oryx's beef wasn't with the Cabal, or the Awoken, or even the Tower/the City. It was with the Guardian(s). YOU specifically. You killed his son & cut a source of massive tribute for him, so he came all the way to Sol to challenge/kill you. He lost. End of story.
