Why Destiny is shit: Developers pt1

I wasn't gonna make this post. I really didn't want to. I'm so sorry. But when a developer deliberately takes time to spit in your face, to do what I like to call "kiss ass and save face" two years late, they are truly and wholly either sell outs or just flat out incompetent. IGN released this video two days ago at the time of this posts writing. The flat out deception and straight up shit-in-your-face dishonesty is legitimately the most anger inducing thing I've ever seen. While I do not recommend buying Rise of Iron for unrelated reasons for the most part, I highly recommend you go out and go back and watch the Vidocs. No, not the Rise of Iron ones. No, not the Taken King ones. I'm talking about THOSE ones. From 2013. The false advertising ones. Followed by watching the video linked. (As well as possibly go over some concept art that'll never be in the game idgaf). Destiny's biggest conceptual problem was Always the lack of content. If this was a flaw in the game genre (lol nope see borderlands) or just a flop on the part of the developers, after about twelve hours, there was nothing to actually do. The thing that keeps you coming back is some psychological bullshit that they use to draw you in, but that's beside the point as well. So in the linked Video, the developers of bungie do tease a bit about Europa and Chicago. They talk about year 1 being a failure because the reviewers hadn't played the "endgame" content. They then have the BALLS to say that you are likely going to have to pay your hard earned cash for that shit that was advertised three years ago (2013 I'm not talking about the actual release don't shit yourself). For one, no. I am not going to buy the Europa or Chicago expansions, as I was supposed to get that two years ago according to bungie themselves, and the game is fundamentally flawed to where the biggest reason to play it is for completion, because the game preys on your sense of completionism as well as several other psychological weaknesses in the human psyche like the oft referenced Loot Hoarding. If you actually did go back and watch that vidoc, which, good for you, you would notice the lack of matchmaking. The sense of awe you get from getting rather mediocre loot in our eyes and the open world. This implies at one point that destiny was actually going to be... Difficult... I know, hard to believe. But an open world loot based first person shooter Was what was advertised. I was told I would be able to invite my friends into a party, be walking Down the road and BOOM BISH there he is. I was advertised that I would have to run around for hours looking for loot in new and dangerous environments where I have actual consequences for dying. I was advertised a game where if I walked around with an exotic helmet, I would be revered. Instead, I got a shitty half-baked "loot based" twitch based shooter that has barely changed since its launch. Look at Rise of Iron. Aside from the story, raid, Archon's forge, and a social space you'll spend ten seconds in, what where you actually being lured in to buy? I can assure you, unless the Archon's forge is in the open world, you won't even bother to look at said open world. After you finish the raid and ONE new strike, get bored of the Court of Oryx reskin, and finished the two hours worth of story, what will you do? You won't have much to do a week later, which is why bungie should've given us a decent game at launch and will be a totally different post. Count on it :3 Bungo tries to cover up their horribly bare bones game by flat out insulting its reviewers, saying that "they haven't played the strikes, they haven't played the raid." And a myriad of other heinous proposals. First of all, I guarantee you every single person who has played destiny longer than two hours has played a strike. It's one of the first things you do on earth, the Devils lair. The Raid is a good point to a degree, but after you've played it once or seen someone play it, there's really no incentive to do it again as it wasn't really all that fun in the first place, and most of all, it wasn't memorable. Remember; the question for most of the gameplay in destiny isn't "was that fun?" It's "do you want to do it over and over again?" And In most cases, the answer was almost always no. Sure, the First or second time you did the raid will be awesome, you're gonna feel like hot shit when your parading around in your raid armor no one else has yet, but what about the fifth time? The twelfth time? The twentieth time? Because that's what destiny's main replay value is, not content, not fun or exciting new mechanics or ways to go about things Just to check a box on a weekly to do list.

Find a single game that has everything from its concept art in the game. You can't. From what I can tell, you don't like Destiny. That's your opinion, & it's perfectly fine. However, people have different opinions, so you shouldn't be surprised that many people like the game. I just spent 2 hours farming a strike for a grasp of malok. You might look at that & say "what an idiot. He's just doing the same thing over & over for a virtual item", but I like playing the game, so I come up with random ass reasons to play it, like farming. If you want a game that has a bunch of new content that takes a long time to play through once, there's a multitude of games that fill that role. We all know by now that Destiny is not that type of game, so move on with your life. & by "move on", I don't mean break your disk & watch vidocs & brag about how smart you are for quitting on the Bungie forums. I mean find a new game that you love, go to that game's forums, & talk about how much you enjoy it.
