Alright, Bungie, let's fix hand cannons. Together.

Alright bungie, let's fix the hand cannons problem. Together. Aight, siddownshuddupanlissen. Right now, the bloom and ghost bullets make hand cannons really frustrating. Not unusable, but so unrewarding that it's close not being worth it. (You) Having described hand cannons as a slow shooting marksman's weapon, good for pacing your shots and calm shooting. Sounds familiar? Yes. Yes it does. So let's just rebuild hand cannons for a moment. Using the core principles that you as a company have set out before the players. The core principles you have laid out are short range, high damage, high damage falloff and a slow rate of fire. Let's assume that these core stats are strong, because they are what defines the weapon. The remaining stats we can tweak to allow the weapon type to be unique and stand out. The stats we can tweak are the handling, optics, and most importantly, the bloom, critical hit area, and aim assist. Just straight up removing the bloom (that shouldn't have been there in the first place.) and reducing either or both of the aim assist and critical hit area, you create a gun that does not shoot itself. Next up for the range, just reduce the optical zoom. That alone will make a HUGE difference in terms of range that player are engaging in. They will feel physically farther away and try to move closer. Use a little bit of psychology here. Now you need to have a calm and steady hand to operate it. Do you know what you have now? A balance weapon. Good luck with whatever you decide to do. All we want is the bloom gone. Edit 1: there seems to be a little misunderstanding about how bloom works. For clarification, the faster you fire, the more you shots spread. The more you actually hit precision shots, the more your accuracy decreases and becomes shit. For me, as a player who engages at the right range Nd actually paces my shots correctly, aiming for the head and only really gong for precision shots, it's the second one that bothers me. I am being punished for hitting my shots. That cancer. They are punishing me for being a good shot. What the actual fück. Edit 2: a quote taken from an article below. https://m.reddit.com/r/DestinyTheGame/comments/52cmwt/massive_breakdown_on_bloom_and_handcannons/ These are just two examples. But you get the picture. In Bungie's eyes, handcannons were broken because you could hit shots at scout-rifle ranges. When in reality, scout rifles were broken because you couldn't keep up with common scenarios with a scout-rifle. For instance, a Bungie dev might look at Triple-wreck's video and call that distance mid-long range, and say "hey, that mechanic is working as expected" However, any experienced player knows that the distance in that video could be cleared by a titan with a jugg shield in about 1 second. A blade-dancer could blink into shotgun range. A warlock could slide-and-glide into shotgun-melee range.

  • It's really frustrating for me too As someone who hip fires the last word so I rock aggressive ballistics and perfect balance. If you look at TLW stats for me I have have the lowest range possible and when I try to shoot people I think I hit them and I don't. I just really want hand cannons fixed
