It seems to me that all people would complain about in Halo 3 was how you could "spray" at close range and get easy kills.
The blooming reticle takes away the spraying concept and adds more skill. Isn't that what everybody wanted?
-
The reality is that most people will just ignore it anyway. You'll get use to it. The pistol in ODST would have tons of bloom- even a fair amount of recoil as well. I got use to it.
-
They are sad cause they have no BR to abouse, so they have to nitpick something new that could be awsome
-
Because they are noobs and think having 100% perfect aim the whole time makes you have more skill. When having to time your shots and not shooting like a retard is what takes real skill
-
The recticle bloom just shows the player when the spread is taking effect. I thought that was what people hated the most in Halo 3, all the randomness and luck based things. At least now your HUD is showing some courtesy by actually telling you when your weapons are going to start being random.
-
I really don't see the point. In Halo 3, weapons had a set rate of fire. It was pre-built into the game. In Reach, it forces the player to do the same by timing their shots properly. I can understand why people are miffed about it when it comes to CQB gameplay, but for mid-long range it just eludes me.
-
People don't understand that this was in all the the other Halo games, just not visible. There is nothing to complain about.
-
You see, people want to be able to pull the trigger as fast as they can without any consequence. Reticule bloom forces you to think before firing and makes you get in the rhythm of firing each weapon. This is something that people who are against thinking do not want in Halo.
-
People don't like change. Alot of it has to do with the fact that you already have to land more shots on an opponent in Halo than pretty much every other shooter out there. So it made sense that most guns were super accurate, even when moving about and shooting at the max fire rate. And its a console game, 360 controllers are not nearly as accurate as a mouse, so most console games have static reticles or ADS. Games without ADS or static reticles just turn alot of new players off. Look at shadowrun, you had to spend a week playing the game and getting used to it in order to even be able to kill anything. Plus, its unnecessary. They easily could have just balanced the weapons using previous mechanics like rate of fire caps, recoil, and more spread when holding the trigger than pulsing the trigger(CE pistol, halo 3 AR). That said, I won't judge the bloom until I get my hands on it. I just wish they would have stuck to the original way or only added bloom to the automatic weapons.
-
Because they suck.
-
no reticule bloom in accurate weapons: if i shoot you, its only because i put that tiny little crosshair squarely on your face. the closer you are, the more skill based the the fight, since sudden strafes or jumps will carry you completely out of my line of fire, and the more i will have to correct my aim to get that pinpoint accurate crosshair back on you. reticule bloom in accurate weapons: if i shoot you, its because i put that tiny little crosshair squarely on you face, or because i pulled the trigger as fast as possible and put out a 5 foot wide undodgable wall of bullets. the closer you are the less skill based the fight, as the wide wall of bullets becomes increasingly rewarding compared to well aimed shots.
Posted by: teh1maggot PROTIP: reticule bloom is just a visualization of something that was ALREADY IN HALO 3
No. The BR/Pistol had set rates of fire. You couldn't shoot the pistol quickly and lose accuracy.
-
Because there are many halo fans- all of which like some of the same things, hate some of the same things or any variation of whicj. This gives nearly an equal ammount of leeway for the same ammount of ppl to complain about opposite/same things.

I originally didn't like the idea of reticle bloom in Halo, but it's grown on me. It worked in Shadowrun and it is a similar type of game. The DMR looks very similar to the SR rifle.

Noobs

its good

No matter what there will be whiners. Nothing can be perfect to everyone.
Indeed. Much of it will dissipate when the Beta hits. I for one quite like the idea of reticle bloom.
I like all of the ideas thusfar. I think the grenade launchers may need some tweaking, but they sound pretty awesome overall as well. I welcome change, and if it doesn't work out in the Beta it won't be in the retail game so I'm not worried at all. I just have to break some stuff.

Most people complain about anything for a list of reasons -They dont take the time to actually think about it -They are idiots -They just want something to complain about -They dont understand what they are complaining about -They are missinformed (rumors?) -They actually dont like it
-
I'm not happy that its adding more skill. -But whatever, I trust in bungie's decision. I believe why halo games used to be at the top of most played was because it was more friendly to new people.
