Bungie, Whats the point of exotics anymore?
You keep making the legendary counterparts better when exotics SHOULD be king. The point of an exotic should be to set it apart from other weapons by making it feel more powerful when compared to non exotics yet you keep doing the opposite.
Most perks that used to be unique to exotics can now be found on legendaries. Example: suros regimes perks can be rolled on a legendary. hawkmoons can almost exactly be replicated as well. black spindle is literally a legendary turned exotic. the truth doesn't have a unique perks anymore either. Just to name a few.
They dont need to be OP but the amount of nerfs they receive do make them under powered compared to legendaries. Why waste an exotic slot if I can roll the same gun as a legendary or why hunt for it? The same perks that make some of these guns unique are the same perks that cause them to get destroyed by nerfs making them sponges. I agree no gun should be the end all be all but there is a line that should be drawn to make them more desirable

20 RepliesAs I explain to every person who makes these posts. Exotics are not meant to be all around more "powerful" than legendaries. The word exotic means to be valuable due to uniqueness. So, exotics are intended to stand out in on specific trait or stat, thus the word "unique". For example, yes all around eyasluna might perform better than hawkmoon, but thats because hawkmoon is only meant to stan out in on specifc stat which is damage per reload. Hawkmoon has the most damage in a single chamber compared to every other primary legendary in the game. Another example is Zhalo. Zhalo is not meant to be the best auto rifle in its achetype. Thats not what makes it unique. What makes it unique is elemental damage which is a feature that every other year 2 primary lacks. So... Exotics are not meant to be the most powerful guns. If they were then they wouldnt be called "exotic". They are just "unique" when compared to legendaries.
