It's overwhelming how much of it there is, in the U.I and in game. If you want to see it even more go to the post master and see how terrible it is. It's already bad enough we're all stuck playing this amazing game at 30 frames, Now we have to sit here and play it with this too?! Guy's c-mon... you're better than this.
(Update) still grainy.. but I thought you guys and gals would like to know that exotic boot engrams are decrypting past 335. Although you should still save them till expansion for a chance at the new items. I tried 2 boots and one was 337 then 334. Seems like a hit or miss situation.
(2nd update) trending! let's hope someone notices this. For the record, giving guardian's the choice to have it on or off would be my solution. Being given the Choice is always the best course of action.
(3rd update) just to be clear because some are questioning my setup. I have a 50inch led tv, patch is live and running fine. Hdmi cable is fine as well, tried switching just to check still graininess remains, tested other games and as I suspected this issue is isolated only to destiny. It was not there before patch, but as soon as I finished downloading it I loaded up and from the character select screen and it was noticeable, even more so when looking at the background of the post master.
(Last update guys going to bed) firstly, thank you to all guardian's who helped bring this to light, and for those who kept it civil doing so.
We were successful in gathering enough light to summon iron lord Cosmo! Let's hope they can get to the bottom of it.
Good morning fellow guardians, just though I'd let you all know that I tried taking a pic, but film grain isn't something you would notice on a still frame. Tried recording and for some reason (probably lowers quality when you record) its not as visible. But trust me it's there. I imagine cozmo wouldn't have responded so fast if it wasn't. Reading further into his response it's clear to me this was not intended, so for all the unnecessarily negative comments out there please keep it civil. As with most patches bugs such as this are common place. We as a community have already done our part by bringing it to their attention, now it's time to let them get to work, and it wouldn't hurt to give-em some words encouragement. God forbid if we thanked them! ( initiating sarcasm.. thanks alot deej!) J/k tips hat to fellow warlock.
(What we have confirmed thus far) *It's affecting both consoles.
*There are some who are reporting that they don't have the issue, which confirms that this was not intended or else everyone would see it.
*Many testify to it not being there prior to patch including myself.( this post was made within minutes of loading up after the patch was live for me and noticing the obvious difference. )
*Seems worst in dark areas. (The dark blade boss fight is reported to be the worst so far.)
I'll try and keep you all apprised of what I find as I find it.
And for those genuinely trying to help by leaving a comment,
thank you all, and sorry in advance if I didn't get to you. This is my 2nd time posting on the forums so I'm new to managing all this.
Last update! (unless the hot fix fails that is) In the recent update by bungie, they announced that on monday (19th) they'll be launching a hot fix to get rid of this film grain glitch that's affecting so many guardians. In the immortal words of Fox Mcloud.. "mission complete!". thanks goes out to everyone for standing behind this and raising enough light to get bungie's attention, this could not have been done without your continued support of this thread so thank you all. I have been lurking these forums since day one, This was my second time posting on the forums in the 3 years I have been playing this game due to how terribly toxic the community can be. But today, my faith in humanity has been restored. We did it guys, (well bungie did actually).
And to iron lord cosmo..
from a fellow Guardian, I salute you and your entire team of amazing devs. Thanks for keeping your word and for you continued support of this amazing game.
And to the bungie team.
You guys had a rough start in year one with the beginning of year two showing some serious promise(though the content drought that followed after should never be repeated please) i have always understood that destiny is a ten year game and I am here for the long haul, so Don't let me down.
I stand with bungie.
See you later space cowboy's.

Is the film grain a glitch or intentional? It seems to fit Rise of Iron's style. I kind of like it tbh.

Grain gate

5 RepliesI sat seven to eight feet away from my TV and still noticed it.
-
I know! It looks so fuzzy!
-
4 RepliesYes, it looks like I'm playing on a xbone
-
I recently posted that i didnt notice.played other games came back and went on the dreadnought i noticed it.im sad. I hope it gets fixed

4 RepliesThe graininess is new...that's for sure. It thought it was my tv for a second, but if you go to the PS home screen, it's nice and clear. I think they are trying to set a tone with the graininess. We'll have to see how it looks when ROI drops.

3 RepliesBungie downgraded the graphics to alleviate rage legacy console owners felt when they were not coming foward. Also, new next-generation console owners were awarded similar graphics they left behind, welcome back.
-
Yep, me and my friends noticed too.
-
I noticed it too. Thought it was my connection.

Any word on a fix yet. It's really annoying.
-
i know that this was a mistake and my theory is that it's one of the eververse 'filters' that was activated as default, by mistake.. which is obvious to most.. the thing is that it began to grow on me since last night.. i began to notice how there's this intensity and slight-grit (no pun, lol) added to the textures which adds a bit of realism to the lighting.. today ti hit me.. this is a filter that's clearly going for "The Division" look, and i'm okay with that.

3 RepliesYes and green engrams dropping from heroics...
-
This effect is puke-inducing. I haven't bought 4K TV for lesser picture quality. Fix Yo shit Bungo. Out of everything... you had to nerf graphics. ;d
-
1 ReplyI haven't had this problem.....
-
I noticed that when I finally hopped back on to Destiny to start grinding before Rise of Iron comes out. I thought it was always there and I just forgot about it during the good month or two break I took from it. Thanks for the info.

Yes! Was first thing i noticed, i asked my friend but he didnt notice it. Conspiracy to get us to buy a ps4 pro :-p
-
1 ReplyI hadn't noticed until I fought the Darkblade today.

i have 55 inch bravia sony 4k tv, i thought it was my tv at first, but nope i switched it to another tv, same thing, so wtf?
-
When the problem is only on destiny and it happend after the update you should figure out a "its your tv" comment dont belong here
-
10 Repliesi captured it !

That and the chromatic abriviation. Don't know what I am talking about? Look at the corner of your screen in game. It will look kinda like seeing through those old 3d glasses.

Edited by Dexpendable: 9/10/2016 8:14:27 PMIts a grain effect like in batman arkham knight or Dying light. It looks fudging awful, in the new dying light edition you can turn it off, bungie needs to disable or add a on/off switch right away. Next generation of gaming my ass. 30 fps and grainy mess. Like most people i noticed this new ugly effect right away shut it off !. Is this a way to make us believe that the new HDR patch will give us a better image quality ? So they worsen the image just before the PS4 HDR patch ?
-
Happening to me too

2 RepliesFilm grain does not "just happen". (unless it does and I'm just ignorant). Someone at bungie thought this was a good idea. Everyone conceded. They tried it. And we all hate it. Unless cozmo is truthful in saying bungie is investigating. If that's the case, that's the strangest random occurrence in a game I've heard of
