How is Zavala an Awoken?
He does not seem like the person to run , he may be a descendant but I'm pretty sure he was around for the big boom

They most likely left due to ideological reasons (we know there are big philosophical differences between City and Reef cryptarchy for example). Zavala clearly doesn't hold with the Reef's isolationism. He had a piece of background dialogue which went, "The Queen? Unless she picks a side, I don't give a damn." There's clearly no love lost there.

Also, in ttk he talks about the awoken after their battle with Oryx like they weren't even related. I mean sure its race, but didnt he have to come from the reef?
