This card is Rasputin questioning The Exo Stranger, and towards the beginning of the card he says this:
You’re not one of THEM
[long dead, alive again, their bodies grafted to powers they and I do not understand]
and not one of IT
[the flower eater, the queen of final shapes, that which also inhabits its petitioners]
Now while it's obvious that the first section is him saying that she's not a Guardian, the second half is a bit more cryptic. Here are my reasons why I believe it could be a reference to SIVA
1- He uses the word IT, meaning a thing as opposed to a person or entity, and as we know, SIVA is a tech.
2- It is called "Flower Eater", and we've seen how SIVA infects and grows upon the landscape.
3- As we now know, SIVA is used to perfect and strengthen a willing host that must first seek it out, hence the use of the word petitioner.
Comment below and tell me what you think of this, and if this does hold up, then how Rasputin's prior knowledge of SIVA may impact the game.
Edit: After checking out that card you guys all pointed out, it's most definitely a reference to Darkness. Although I'd like to further speculate if he's referring to Darkness as a whole or a more specific manifestation of Darkness, and what that may be.

I think the queen of final shapes is the physical manifestation of the darkness and her personal army something similar to the taken but greater...what rasputin detected was an Army of them ...It a stretch I know

This is a small part of Ghost Fragment: Titan / Good. That Ghost - what do you think is wrong with it? It's echoing something ancient, an Old Earth language. You know what that Ghost reminds me of, flitting about over there? / I don't. / The time Ghosts from Jagi's Host came back without them. Remember - they got in that fight at some point east of the Caspian? Seven Ghosts, damn near silent, buzzing with some sort of corruption. Drifting back to the Tower, one by one. Scared the Speaker well enough. / I remember. A long time ago. Jagi tells the story differently. / Well. We all grow old. In our way. Little Ghost! Come back here! I believe that this is 1st time we reed about SIVA without knowing it!

1 ReplyIt calls it IT because it's something he can't comprehend, it pisses him off that he can't.

He refers to the darkness as "IT" just like the traveler is "O" and the guardians are "THEM". When he says flower eater he could be talking about when mercury fell as in another card he mentions meeting "IT" at the gate of the garden and watching IT consume the garden. He tried to fight IT but didn't even put in a dent. It was right after this encounter that he went into hibernation because he figured the darkness could not be defeated and figured the only way to win is by hiding until it goes away. And that he did, then the hive came after him to steal his weapons and kill one of the few things that have knowledge of the queen of shapes. (thought it is unlcear if she has relation to oryx, the king of shapes.)
Damnit, did the old person thing again, didn't I.
It could be the Taken he's referencing, although that might be a little hard to support lore wise, as Earth had never encountered Taken power. "The queen of final shapes", the Taken are also referred to as having assumed their final shape. Personally I always thought he was talking about the Heart of the Black Garden.

4 RepliesRasputin calls the darkness "it". SIVA is technically a force of the darkness so while I disagree I don't disagree completely.
-
1 ReplyIT always refers to the traveler.
-
Yeah IT in that card references The Darkness.
-
IT sounds more like the hive worms, imho.

Edited by nomorbountisXP: 9/3/2016 10:22:13 PMThe second half is in reference to Oryx
-
Don't think so. In other cards it seems like it's the darkness that he's referring to as IT
-
IT refers to the darkness
-
I think he's probably referring to the darkness. SIVA isn't inherently evil, it's a tool that can be used to create or destroy.
-
The IT, the message refers to could be associated with the black garden as it pertains to the vex
-
I think you are right. It could be the darkness. But the petitioner clue sells it for me. I'm sure bungie has most if not the whole destiny story mapped out and finding clues in old grimoire about things we deal with in the future is the bread crumbs. Another example is the "worms" in the book of sorrows... turns out it may be the arhamkara. Hmmm
-
Flower eater seems like the black heart and the queen of chapels seems like oryx so it is probably the darkness
-
IT is the Darkness, not the SIVA.
-
3 RepliesThat could just be a reference to the Darkness as a whole.

Edited by kn1ne: 9/3/2016 1:07:07 AMBased on Ghost Fragment : Mysteries IT is what Rasputin calls the Darkness. Also SIVA while around in the golden age wasn't a threat until sometime after the collapse, near or after the end of the dark ages, during which time Rasputin was sleeping.

Edited by Phunkr: 9/3/2016 4:15:26 AMIT and Titanomach are how Rasputin refers to the Darkness. There is actually a Grim card that I think refers to some SIVA-like corruption. I'll have to find it and post the name. Edit: Ghost Fragment: Titan references a story told where seven Ghosts return to the City showing some sort of corruption. Those Ghosts belonged to Jagi's Host who traveled somewhere East of the Caspian Sea which is near where the Plaguelands should be. And looking at what is probably the SIVA Ghost shell, it definitely looks corrupted.

I think IT is how Rasputin refers to the darkness, but I may be wrong.
