What are the Harbingers doing to the Dreadnaught?

So been brushing up on my grimoire and one of the cards I guess I didn't pay much attention to at first grabbed my attention. That card is The Coven For those unfamiliar with the name Harbingers, those glowing balls that the Queen hurled at the Dreadnaught during the Taken King story that looked like a super nova bomb, those glowing orbs are called the Harbingers and the Coven grimoire card details a conversation between the witches we see in the cinematic, in which they allude to the Queen's bigger plan for the dreadnaught.
“So now the decision is nigh. The Harbingers, which to prepare?” Shuro was determined to see this all through. Excitement was taught to be kept at bay. “We cannot send them all.” Portia reminded. “All but one, the oldest. It stays with us. Sedia, Kalli, Shuro, take the children, tell her they are to be planted into a dead thing to have children of their own.” A plan hid behind Illyn’s eyes, but Techeuns do not share their eyes with others. “What if they are not wise enough for the Dreadnaught?” Illyn turned back to the source. “Sedia, do you not have faith in our Queen?”
So the Harbingers didn't just disable the dreadnaught but were planted to have children of their own inside of it.. what that means? we don't know but my guess is the Harbingers are going to somehow transform the Dreadnaught which the Queen will then take control of upon returning from her supposed death. To what end? I have no idea. Anybody have any wild theories of what the Harbingers could be doing to the dreadnaught or what the Queen might be planning?

  • Everyone is going to be descending on the greatest unprotected power source in the universe. It is not by coincidence that the two vessels of creation for the light and dark lay dormant a mere 750 million miles away from each other. % The cabal will try to take it. The signal was sent to the empire. They want that giant bomb if for nothing more than to blow it up. The queen is the embodiment of a perfect beta personality. Both her and her brother are expert manipulators. Brobro alludes to this when we are to kill the garden's heart. This entire situation has been set up in the queen's favor. If the harbingers do indeed weave themselves into the fiber of the dreadnaught they will also control the throne world. I imagine the queen to truly be dead, perhaps the harbinger left behind holds her essence. If the paradigm shifts in the dreadnaught the queen would be able to will herself back to existence in the ascendant realm when the final harbinger traveled there. I imagine we will probably find an opportunity to use the dreadnaught to jumpstart the traveler. The vanguard will make this the top priority. I'm curious what rasputin thinks of this plan. The vex have been chillin waiting for us to eliminate the threat. They are one planet away, correct? This is a power they will seek to exploit, believe that. Perhaps they already have and this is the time arc that the stranger comes from. The questions are the narrative order and the ultimate outcome. Like i alluded to the end victor will be the vex. The queen will return, perhaps ultimately corrupted by the power...too early to say. The vanguard will fail their objective but we all know the traveler will return of its own will. The cabal will obviously not take it. However i think the coming war will destroy the last city. This will probably be the moment of the traveler's awakening. Perhaps we will lead a mission to insert rasputin into the traveler, or everyone leaves Earth. Leading us to the mobile rasputin platform. I believe D2 will end with a time jump. The end result of this coming war is the vex taking the lead. Securing the bleak future the stranger comes from. I believe this to be the basis of D3 and the conclusion of the trilogy. Thoughts?

I see the word wild paired with theories. Time to make up something insane and try to make it sound reasonable (I should be in politics) Never thought they were meant to do any real damage to the dreadnought. Queen knew better than that, she's been closer to the things out there than any of us. I highly doubt the Queen has any interest in the ship for its weapon, maybe other reasons though. I hold the belief the weapon is Oryx's ascendant realm being forcefully and temporarily expanded outside the boundaries of the dreadnought. It looked quite like they were absorbed into it and seeing how the techeuns refer to the harbingers they have their own sentience. I think those harbingers are going to change the hive still residing on the dreadnought, specifically any new ones being born. But these new hive will be different, more than just hive and this new brood will be connected to the last remaining harbinger who will wait, patiently wait until the new brood out numbers the old before "awakening" them and slaughtering the old brood, allowing one hive of the new brood to exploit the sword logic to place itself in charge at which point it will become the vessel for the Queen's remaining essence and thus the Queen will own it all. In summary, the power of making babies will raise her to the crown! At what point did this stop seeming sensible?

      • It's very clear that whatever plans the Queen had with the Harbingers failed. To me however they just seem like gravity wells.

          • Queen goes to throne using the guardians as the force and herself as the brain. She might be trying to control oryx's brood or the dreadnaught itself to ensure the awoken race thrives.

Looking at the missions we have done, the lore that we discovered in fragments, and the odds and ends of the campaign I think we can at least put together some facts and answers. In the first mission we come to a realization that the Queen Mara Sov's sacrifice was part of a bigger plan. That this was to be an opportunity for her hidden friend. We know now that friend is Eris Morn. Eris Morn, a part of Ikora's Hidden, was coming to the reef to discuss plans with Queen. We get all that from the lore. After that we discover a second lore where Mara meets with two people (who in all likelihood from the description of a hunter without a ghost and a man who shines too brightly are Eris Morn and Osiris) to plan the downfall of Oryx. We then do a string of missions for Petra Venj to follow a trail of clues that might hint at where the Queen is. The final clue we find is a Coven Witch's badge next the gate at the Court of Oryx. The final cut scene shows Eris Morn confirming what we know about her. I believe that a plan was put into place that would bring Oryx's end while giving Mara a chance to enter the ship and possibly take over. The Court of Oryx was the door to the throne room and Oryx was the king. We killed Oryx, and the Queen probably went through the door to the empty throne. Had to edit the sword part being a key. My mistake.

              • Could the Harbingers not just be the Ahamkara's newest form? I know that they shape shift to avoid extinction. I highly doubt they would let the Guardians wipe them out. I would even go as far as saying they let the Guardians put a dent in their numbers to make them believe they're gone.

              • It means bungo was to lazy to write a real story and rolled their dice that you kids wouldn't be able to tell the difference between a romantic/renaissance sci fi "mystery" to be solved and a halfassed game, jokes on you, they made a bunch of elaborate treasure maps (through grimoire) but didn't bury a treasure for you to find (actual content or answers in the game).

So the tech witches may or may not have lied to the oldest Harbinger... who knows. Maybe they are making babies, maybe not. We know what the end result was on our end... but if the Harbingers lived and ate reproducing... what does THAT mean for us? It sounded to me like they were very dangerous and that it was very difficult for the queen to capture them. What is a baby harbinger? Also, what should we think about the Harbingers? Are they wild beasts that have been tamed? Are the fully sentient beings who have been enslaved?

                            • Maybe the Queen put her soul into the harbingers and is taking over the dreadnaught that way. She made herself part of the ship. Or she did put her soul into the harbingers to survive? She knew they wouldn't win so she saved herself partially? I don't know but I liked the Queen.(mainly for her benevolence)

I read this different. It is obvious the harbingers are organic, and I think the Techeuns intended to sacrifice the young harbingers in the dreadnaught attack. They held the eldest back so more harbingers could be bred in the future. But they lied to the eldest harbinger about how they were going to sacrifice its children. Basically they were telling it the dog went to live on a farm. As far as the plan. I think Mara knew she wouldn't stop the dreadnaught (or at least was prepared for that to happen). They just wanted to wipe out the fleet, put a serious dent in oryx's tribute, and leave the dreadnaught vulnerable to our guardian, which they knew from crota, was the only way to truly kill oryx.
