Reintroduce Reforging in Destiny
Not the exact same as house of wolves though. Remember the matador? *shudders*
Anyways, this past week I grinded for a good roll on the imago loop (didn't get it of course). I grinded a lot, I'm guessing around 15 hours. Now, that it's Tuesday I have to do the regular or heroic version of the strike. But what if there was reforging?
Now I know what you're thinking, everyone would have God rolls (like in HoW). That may be true, but with my version of the system it wouldn't be instant. It would just make the grind less infuriating. Picture this, you got yourself a new Conspiracy Theory, but with an awful perk set. You would want to reforge it right?
Reforging would only take place at your friendly neighbourhood Gunsmith, but would cost 25 legendary marks, 2500 glimmer, and 5 motes of light (or whatever the developers decide). Your weapon would get packaged up and an order would be placed (just like foundry orders, just more expensive). The next Armsday you get a selection of rolls (depending on your rank, up to rank 3). If you don't like any of them, you wait until the next week.
People can reforge multiple guns, and they wouldn't be able to spam reforge.
Edit: Lots of mixed opinions on this. More positive than negative, and some suggestions. Some people still have flashbacks of HoW though, and think what I'm talking about is a carbon copy. I assure you it's not.
Edit 2: We're trending, let's let bungie know what we want. I'm really liking the feedback on this idea, and reading the opinions of everyone. But if you disagree, say something more than "no" or straight up disliking the post.
Edit 3: Some people dislike the currency thing, so why not just make it a ticket? They only drop (and not always) as a weekly nightfall reward or weekly shaxx bounty.

Could be a scope, rolling something other than Exhumed, want to get Rifled instead of Oiled Frame, etc (obviously, the perks available are only those rolled for that particular node....i.e. no short gaze on the first scope node). The idea is that the player needs to get a NEAR god roll to make one instead of arbitrarily relying on RNG on the entire weapon even after farming said weapon. The kicker being that once that node is rolled, it is the only node that can be rerolled for the life of that weapon. Costs, wait time, etc. is debatable.

Bump for reforge < Gun smith needs a use. Bump for customization of guns - tally marks / fun stuff for customizing. Bump for weapon designs. Customizing you own white templates and re naming. Bump for a bumps sake? Reforge <?! Yes

4 RepliesSo basically customised Armsday packages? It would take away from the idea of Armsday so I dont think thats likely. Reforging itself takes away from the whole point of grinding and becoming legend so I dont think they will bring it back. Theyre bringing in strike chests hopefully that reduces your grind

This has been suggested before. It's a good idea, but there needs to be a little more limitation on it, like one gun per character. If you didn't limit it like that people would have 25 packages sitting there and it would end up being just like HoW, only a little slower.

Personally I don't think the reforge should have ever been taken out in general. I didn't see anything wrong with it. More than anything I want to know what happened to shot package...

Instead of completely removing Reforging Bungie could have refined it in a way that you could reforge a weapon to that perfect roll using multiple of the [b]same weapon[/b] and the [b]perks you obtained[/b] for each, however you can only have perks which are only available on a specific node. For example... I have two 1000-Yard Stares with these stand out scopes/perks. 1. Arc with Ambush... Army of One... Casket Mag/Will of Light... Hidden Hand 2. Solar with Hawkeye/Shortgaze/TacSys... Triple Tap... Explosive Rounds/Smallbore... Hidden Hand Bungie could have made it in a way that Reforging was still an option where I could reforge my two 1000 Yard Stare into one PvE/PvP wombo-combo super weapon which would have.... Hawkeye..........Triple Tap...........Explosive Rounds............Hidden Hand Shortgaze.....................................Casket Mag Ambush.........................................Will of Light [b]For example this would not be compatible...[/b] [b]TacSys[/b]..........Triple Tap..............Explosive Rounds............[b]Army of One[/b] Shortgaze......................................Casket Mag Ambush.........................................[b]Smallbore[/b] Also all Snipers that are [u][b]not[/b][/u] 1000-Yard Stare would also deem [b][u]incompatible[/u][/b] for reforging. The system will still require you to grind to an extent and get lucky with drops.

I like the last edit a little more. Still maintains the RNG element if you get a, one time use, reforge ticket. I'm sure I also read a comment earlier about one perk being reforge ready and once you choose which perk you're going to reforge you can only ever reroll that perk. The only problem with that though is that weapons have been around long enough and there's enough info out there to know exactly what perks can roll in exactly what perk columns, so people are just going to be rolling for things like counterbalance on their grasp or rifled barrel on their Eyasluna without much RNG actually involved.

But everyone rerolled to get shot package and rangefinder then Bungie nerfed them. Don't bring back reforming instead bring back all the good perks and let us be excited when a great roll drops.

This would game break Pvp with the Op "sniper" shotguns Everyone would have full auto grasps/hawk saw Everyone will have proximity rockets with max velocity n radius I'm just saying everyone will have the same cloned guns with the same perks. Just leave it the rng gods and if you don't get what you wanted better luck next time.

9 RepliesI would say no, UNLESS....... Once per gun, 50 weapon parts, 8500 glimmer, and 150 legendary marks just like the vendors. Reasons why I made it so high is because it will be something to aim for. It's easy to get 5 motes, 2500 glimmer, and 25 LM. You can get all that in a hour. This way you'll still have to grind to get the materials, but then again you might get that gun with a godly roll you been looking for.

This is a really good idea. Obviously, the numbers are just placeholders, but I could definitely see Bungie putting some practical use to this! Well done.

9 RepliesI don't see what all the fear is about regarding people obtaining god rolls. What is godly for one man is not godly for another. Example? I would never take a PR/SR into PVP w/o it having 3rd eye on it. Even if others like SR's, they may prefer something like Full Auto and Zen Moment. Bottom line is this: PVP in HoW was great because EVERYONE had access to godly weapons. God rolls were not merely reserved for the lucky/fortunate. I think if Bungie continues with the TTK model through RoI, then Reforge is a must, as it is really quite stupid to keep grinding your butt off for a particular gun and to never ever get decent/usable perks on it. I'm sorry, I'm not going to use Imago no matter how many times you give it to me with Exhumed/Gorilla Fighter on it. It's just not going to happen.

1 ReplyAgreed bring back reforge. Dont know why ppl complain. Sure you had god rolls. But then again so did everyone. The playing field was even. Destiny RNG is complete garbage. If i spend six months for a imago loop and finally got one but had shit rolls i would not be happy and that would put another notch on the list to uninstalling destiny. Now if i spent six months and got an imago loop with shit rolls i would be over the moon if reforge was still a thing because i could re roll and enjoy the gun and the game alot more. Over the course of last week i obtained a hopscotch pilgram. It had garbage perks. Now if reforge wasnt a thing for yr 1 weapons i would have dismantled. But i took it to gunsmith and rolled it for Outlaw Braced frame Glass half full And i can pretty much tell you i havnt put it down in 5 days i love the damn gun. My playtime has actually increased because i am having too much fun with this weapon. Bring back reforge.
