Don't get me wrong, I love this game more than words can express. I have over 1300 hours invested and ain't going anywhere. But yesterday I started my final quest before Rise of Iron launches - the Jolly Holliday quest. Three games in and I have been doing decent. Got the quest percentage up to 52% and pretty happy at how quickly this is going.
Then I had two very bad games ... as we all do. But I shrugged and knew it would be better next game. Then I checked my quest tracker .... for whatever reason my progress was erased and I was back down to 22% ... I am sorry, but that is just wrong. I says nowhere on the quest that deaths count against you. I mean, not that one would try to die anyways, but still. I was floored to learn that this was left out of the quest and somehow feel extremely cheated by Bungie.
I can't help but feel like just abandoning the quest even though it's a gun I really want because let's face it ... XUR will be selling it as a legacy engram NEXT September. LOL Does anyone have any advice, pointers, or just wanna share their frustration with me? To know I'm not alone would make all the difference.
My PSN is Jeremiah_VA88 should anyone want to help or play together. I am sorry to rant or seem like I am complaining, but I don't let much bother me in this game and grinding for everything doesn't phase me one bit .. but parameters being left out of a quest that negatively impact you is just dirty on Bungie's end.
EDIT: Thanks to everyone for the tips, stories and suggestions. As of last night, I am currently on the "Bide Your Time" step, which is the final step as all I have to do now is wait until the weekly reset next week. I am beyond excited to play with this weapon!!

Edited by jedikillinmofo: 8/30/2016 12:37:28 AMIt's one of 3 guns I need. I just don't have it in me lol
-
Theres alot of variables that make you gain and lose points. For example regular kills and deaths account for a loss/gain of 1%, kills/deaths via headshot make you lose/gain 2%, killing sprees give you a multiplier, and consecutive deaths give you a negative multiplier. So don't die consecutively via headshot lol. Its a tough bounty, but not as bad as doing the thorn bounty in year 1 with no void subclass. Im average at best.., even worse with tlw. If i can do it so can you. Just keep grinding

Positioning is key for last word users to live. Doesn't have to be with the gun itself just while equipped (I.e. super kills, heavy, etc). It does say deaths go against. This is the hardest part unless you are ass with a shotgun for a later part.
-
At first lol. But I got it completed a couple iron banners ago. Lol now the chaperone is sitting in the kiosk😂
-
Thorn wss just as bad
-
One acronym. SRL
-
I did it, so can you. Laugh at my KD.
or else...
-
The sparrow racing counted as crucible matches for that quest thats how i did mine
-
The safest method I found was waiting for super and heavy. Go hide somewhere and equip TLW and go get kills. Don't forget to unequip. For heavy use MG and wait somewhere and watch the screen as everyone rockets each other then come out and win gun fights! Don't for get to unequip after! Kills are 1% and deaths are 2% streaks help Good luck
-
I had mine to 78% and then dropped back to 18%.
-
I hate the beginning part, I can't do it at all really. The best strategy I heard was equip TLW only when your super is ready, and get some kills. You may get 2+ or less each time. It would be slow, but it will work
-
I did it, an my kd is abysmal. You just have to believe!
-
Still on the first step. I just don't use TLW. I'm not a bad player but I just can't get to grips with it
-
At first I was so I did it during SLR. Recently completed it on another character the right way and by accident.
-
Go into rumble with buddies=profit
-
It took me a while to do, it was by far the hardest quest ive done but its well worth it once u get it
-
Past exotic quests have featured hidden ways to track a score system. The math behind this mission has been done, Google it. It could make it easier for you bud!
-
Yeah I thought it was hard too then I got Gud and said -blam!- it and put the gun on. Got it done in 3 games. Rift OP.
-
I did mine during Iron Banner. When a win was assured, I would hide like a b***h and equip TLW. 3% per game. Any big team mode works though.
-
Only equip TLW when you have your super or have heavy. After using super or heavy unequip TLW. When at the end of the match, just before victory, equip TLW. Rinse and repeat.
-
no scrub
-
I suck 10 different kinds of ass with TLW, so I'll never do it, but oh well.
-
Edited by Hiatus: 8/29/2016 9:30:20 PMIt's brutal, but doable. Unless they revamp how we get exotics again, I doubt Xur would end up selling it. The quest system is in a good spot right now. My only tip is try to get a streak going without the gun, then keep it going with TLW. I'd get to 4 kills, swap to TLW and get the fifth, and get huge boosts to progress.
-
Rumble+friends =easy
-
What I did was just equip it when you have your heavy or super then when your done with that hopefully streak then take it off I know it's a hassle but that's how I did it
-
Been there brother. Exact same scenario. Up to 52 percent and slowly dwindled to 0. I said -blam!- it, hugged meta and went last word sniper. Finished in 7 games. I Technically finished in 6 but i literally sat at 100 percent in the menu but wouldnt finish then i got shot.
