Has anyone else been as frustrated as me at Chaperone quest?
Don't get me wrong, I love this game more than words can express. I have over 1300 hours invested and ain't going anywhere. But yesterday I started my final quest before Rise of Iron launches - the Jolly Holliday quest. Three games in and I have been doing decent. Got the quest percentage up to 52% and pretty happy at how quickly this is going.
Then I had two very bad games ... as we all do. But I shrugged and knew it would be better next game. Then I checked my quest tracker .... for whatever reason my progress was erased and I was back down to 22% ... I am sorry, but that is just wrong. I says nowhere on the quest that deaths count against you. I mean, not that one would try to die anyways, but still. I was floored to learn that this was left out of the quest and somehow feel extremely cheated by Bungie.
I can't help but feel like just abandoning the quest even though it's a gun I really want because let's face it ... XUR will be selling it as a legacy engram NEXT September. LOL Does anyone have any advice, pointers, or just wanna share their frustration with me? To know I'm not alone would make all the difference.

I am sorry to rant or seem like I am complaining, but I don't let much bother me in this game and grinding for everything doesn't phase me one bit .. but parameters being left out of a quest that negatively impact you is just dirty on Bungie's end.
EDIT: Thanks to everyone for the tips, stories and suggestions. As of last night, I am currently on the "Bide Your Time" step, which is the final step as all I have to do now is wait until the weekly reset next week. I am beyond excited to play with this weapon!!

I did it during SRL, racing with TLW equipped. If you're having trouble (as I was), you could wait until December. I don't think Xur would sell it, but you never know.

Play cheap, pick up assists (occasionally kills) STAY ALIVE. This should be obvious but you need to do it.

I highly recommend only doing the quest during a week when Mayhem Clash is the weekly Playlist. I did it on my Warlock, went in one match at 47%, got a 5 kill streak with my storm caller while TLW was equipped and that completed the quest for me. Super multi kills makes the grind fest that is this quest SO much easier! It's also more forgiving on deaths since you can easily make them up with your next super charge.

It is a very difficult quest, but ultimately worth it. Fwiw, add me Grannyspanker on psn. I only really play crucible so you can always join in. A few of my clan have done it, or are trying recently. Sounds like a plan.

There was a time where if you finished in top 3 and equipped TLW before the game ended it would reward you 3 or so points. Not sure if this still works.

Its not even worth it. The Chaperone gets more phantom shots that TLW

The only part I'm "stuck" on is the 15000 glimmer for Rahool. And I feel like that is the hardest thing in the quest for me because I'm constantly spending glimmer

Equip it at the end of the game and sit in a corner if you know your gonna win... Auto 3%

I beat it in an afternoon right after ttk dropped. Pretty simple to use, learn to use hip fire accurately then you destroy your opposition. But remember you can't always win em all

ONLY equip last word if you possess your super or heavy ammo, that's how I did it

It's not too bad. I had read the tip to just equip it at the end of a winning match, but I wasn't winning matches. So the tip I used was to just equip TLW when you have a super or when you get heavy ammo. The key is to get multi-kills. So say you get one or two multi kills per match, you'll make steady progress (don't forget to unequip it again after the super is over). Then some match youll get a 3-kill spree and that'll give you a big bump up.

You only lose or gain rep when the last word is equipped. Equip it when you get heavy or have a super. Then unequip it.

I put tlw on had a good game (10/15 kill streak) and it was done from what I can remember.

20 RepliesReminds me of the thorn bounty. I was so happy when I got Atheon's epoilougue and was "all right a void auto this bounty is as good as done" after the first game I put the gun away and struggled with a rare void fusion ruffle.

Get it done in 3's bro. You have greater chance of putting together kill streaks and less deaths than in 6's. It goes up way faster. I did mine playing elimination and im not even that good at pvp. Also, if your having a bad game, unequip tlw. And only pull it out again when you have super or heavy then put back away.

My 5 year old completed it on Xbox 1 in rumble as soon as he got the last word.

2 RepliesEdited by TheMachoKing: 8/30/2016 6:52:35 AMI literally just completed this quest. Simple advice that saved my life, and my controller. 1. Play rift 2. Don't have the Last Word equipped 3. See how good the other team is 4. Wait for your super/heavy 5. Sit back and play like a pansy 6. Equip the last word and rack up a few kills with your heavy/super/special ammo. (Headshots count as 2% btw) 7. Unequip The Last Word and repeat steps 1-6 After that grind, took me about 8 games playing as a sunbreaker, you need shotgun kills. Throw on Universal Remote and your Conspiracy Theory-D, jump into control, and be the dirtiest shotgun whore ever born. I completed that step in two games. Finally, grab some buddies and go kill the shield brothers guardian! I'm anxiously awaiting my Chaperone to hit my hands tonight at reset Haha. Feel free to add me on ps4 if you need help.
