I know one of the biggest problems with bringing the Vault of Glass and Crota's End forward is the nature of the primary weapons, so here is an idea.
Since the perks on these weapons are so great, why not have either all or some of the weapons made into exotics, and have the raids drop these exotics as the possible rewards? They would only need a little tweaking since they are already so powerful, and Bungie could decide if the elements need to be removed.
For example, Praedyth's Timepiece could be given full auto and have secret round swapped out for a more powerful version of the year one secret round. Maybe make it so that a full burst anywhere on the target only spends one bullet, and a partial burst only spends two. I would also like to see an exotic Praetorian Foil.
Please comment below if you think this is a good idea, and/or what raid weapon you want to see return as an exotic. Don't forget what you think the exotic perk(s) should be.
Edit:
It seems people are under the misconception that I am asking if they think Bungie will actually do this, and are derailing the post in that way. My question was, do you think this is a good/cool idea, and if so how would you make a VoG weapon legendary. Please stop arguing as to whether or not it will happen. That's not the point, and any feedback from this post would then be lost on Bungie if they actually read this.

1 ReplyThey aren't keeping it

1 ReplyHow about just make an appearance gear slot so we can at least wear the gear without jeopardizing the stats. Boom. Y1gear relevant
-
I wish!
-
1 ReplyIf all the raid weapons became exotic, there would be way too many exotics and it wouldn't feel as special.
-
Oh mah gawd please I would play destiny forever if this was a thing
-
2 RepliesI don't see why to change any of these weapons. Just bring elemental primarys back and have it so with rng, every weapon in the game has a CHANCE to drop with a element. The element would be random. This would also apply to VoG and crota weapons. Rolls wouldn't change but element would be random, same with every other weapon in the game. Also raid gear would also have a CHANCE to drop with a RANDOM element. This would diminish any weapon diversity problems in pve. Also change Black hammers perk to to a version of triple tap. Perk would be called "Black hammer" Landing 3 precision shots will refund a shot to the magazine. But this 4h shot will do extra precision damage. This way there will be a reason to use spindle.

3 RepliesDont wont old reskinned content..want fresh new content
-
I completely agree. We have so much great content that is irrelevant to play. If bungie leveled up the difficulty on VOG, CE, POE, and KF in addition to balancing weapons and armor from those activities (so they are viable but not overpowered endgame) we would have a completely different game. I would probably play Destiny non stop again. We would would have more diverse and interesting load outs, we would have more cosmetic options, and most importantly we would have more interesting gameplay options. Running the same raid or the strike playlist over and over again gets very monotonous very quick. We're locked away from so much content that already exists and it's disappointing. If Bungie announced they were leveling up their old raids and bundled it with Rise of Iron I'm sure they would sell A LOT more copies. I understand Bungie's need to make new content so they can sell it for a profit but I think that they are missing a quick balancing fix that could regain a large player base and be lucrative for them at the same time.

13 RepliesWhy would you bring me forward. I'm still here.
-
Great idea. Bungie could always just remove the elements on the VoG and CE primaries that way the wouldn't have to admit that removing elements primaries was a bad idea
-
Hmm probably the best suggestion I've seen yet make all the gun exitoc so they balance out pvp and pve instead of turning us into pvp and pve gods might be a great idea.
-
3 RepliesWhy bother with Praedyth's Timepiece when you could get No Time to Explain, then? It's good, I swear ;~;
-
1 ReplyThey just need to bring back elemental primaries. They're fun, the vast majority of people want them back, and if they re-implement them properly (by making elemental damage infusion items for kinetic weapons drop in endgame content) they can return without killing weapon diversity.
-
I'd say just bring the old raids back and elemental primaries. Probably with an item from nightfall/raid that ads an elemental damage. Bump
-
Honestly, all they have to do is make the gear infusible. Their explanation for not bringing the raids forward does make sense as in the game, we already have completed those events in order to move the story forward. But it would also make sense that we would still have the gear from those past events.

1 ReplyI disagree, OP. I think all that Bungie needs to do to keep the VoG and Crota's Butthole relevant, is to raise the difficulty of those two Raids up to TTK/RoI standards, and allow us to Infuse those Raid weapons up to the same TTK/RoI standards. There's nothing wrong with the older Raid weapons staying as Legendary weapons, they just need to allow them to come up to be viable with the rest of the Raid weapons. With the Infusion mechanics already in place and pretty stable for the past year, it would be easy to change some number values in the coding for those Raids weapons, and to add in the Infusion Bubble to the VoG and CE Raid weapons. Do I think Bungie will do it? Not at all. Since the aforementioned mechanics are already in the game, and the code changes would be nominal, the only thing keeping Bungie from doing it is pure stubbornness from Wiesnewski and the rest of the Dev team. To allow those Raid weapons to be Infused, Wiesnewski and company would have to admit that the removal of elemental damage from Primary Weapons was a bad idea, and that they were completely wrong about the removal "increasing weapon diversity". Bungie doesn't admit that they were wrong on anything. They continue to push the idea that they walk on goddamn water... Not to mention that 99% of their staff/resources are already working on Destiny 2... No, even though reviving those Raids and making those Raids' weapons relevant again would drastically resuscitate interest in this franchise, they won't do it due to their own vanity and that D2 is just around the corner. It's a shame too...

what i would really like to see is everything in this whole game leveled out. I know that this wont happen at the release of the new dlc but hear me out. so a half year away from now im pretty sure we have covered it all in destiny and nothing will be new since the new destiny 2 will come a half year from then. So with a half year to go to destiny 2 every raid/strike/pvp map/content/EVERYTHING becomes accecible for the max level. you could raid VoG again at level 40 with the max level, do crota at max level etc. If bungie dont want to bring back elements to primaries, so be it. Let us earn a Fatebringer or Vision of confluence without the elementals. If they really hate the perks being to good, then change it. Just make every content in the game great again and let us collect everything in the game there is. im not surprised if 90% of year 2 or year 2 players never even played VOG or Crota. this game has great content and great weapons/armor. its such a shame they leave so much behind

This is an interesting idea, but I would rather see the weapons come back as powerful as they were, without having to use an exotic slot. I found that doing the raid and getting unique, powerful weapons was a good thing. It's a loot-based game, or at least it claims to be, but all the loot in PVE has been balanced to be just as good as everything else, so getting a drop doesn't matter until you're not at max light level yet. PVE loot-based games need something to shoot for besides just leveling up until you're leveled.

5 RepliesHere's my idea. Everything is brought back but you can only use it in the raid.
-
Having played both countless times, I don't think I would necessarily remake them. I would, however, adjust them somewhat. Kinda. Necrochasm is just an awful weapon. It has very low power, and even when used in the Year 1 raids, PoE, and adjusted Crucible, it's not powerful enough to choose over pretty much any other gun in the game. It has zero punch and does little to no damage. VoG, the only thing I would change is the drop rate for Vex Mythoclast. MANY people I know--plus me--have yet to get it. I can't tell you how many times I've done that stupid HM raid, and I still don't have it. Out of all my friends, I believe only two have it. The drop rate is SUPPOSED to be that one out of six will get it. This is crap, because I have literally seen it drop ONCE. Upping the drop rate would be GREATLY appreciated.

They're gonna put aesthetic rewards in the future...
-
I don't think it has anything to do with the weapons anymore. Just the investment of having to reprogram it from the ground up.
-
2 RepliesIf Bungies so worried about making old raids relevant all they need to do is make old gear, and possibly weapons infusable. That way people can't farm old easy raids for max light, and people could have more diversity in their load outs, and aperance...
-
1 ReplySomeone from bungie officially answered this in a interview. Bringing old raids forward will distract them from making new raids. Bungie might have a lot of staff but not enough to do everything the community is asking for. I'd personally rather have new raids than old.

31 RepliesThough the elemental weapons is an issue, it isn't the main reason they don't bring them forward. The problem is, there's no legitimate reason to bring them forward. They were very linear and had a very abrupt ending. The structure of the raids is what causes their obsolescence. To bring them forward, would mean restructuring. Ironically enough, they already have a great formula in place to do so. Release normal raid. 1 completion unlocks quests for all applicable normal raid weapons. Some quests will require re entry into the raid, but not the whole raid, with different mechanics. Such as the quest lines that took you back into vault and Crota's end. This should be how you acquire all raid gear. While maintaining the 1-1 infusion. The final boss on the normal raid, SHOULD NOT be the final boss on hard mode. Hard should have the true final boss. With its own quest lines for hard gear. You shouldn't be forced to replay the raid, but have the option to do so. There should also be special events that take place in the raids as we play through. Challenges should be how you acquire exotics in the raids. And the challenges should change. Have multiple variations on bosses and puzzles to solve to complete the challenges. 1 challenge per boss that rotates is boring as Fuuuuuudge. New quests could be patched in regularly. Patches for raid quests. Crucible quests. Challenges. That would also solve the problem of content droughts and boredom. A lot of tiny content goes a long way of it's a steady stream. If you signed on and went on patrol to the cosmodrome and your ghost mentioned a peculiar event at the forgotten shore, then when you got there there was a beachhead set up with a huge ship you could go inside and explore, I'm sure you'd be tickled to death. Raids should never be irrelevant. They messed up by making them end so suddenly. They should be built upon. 1 raid per year. Added upon constantly. At the very most. Even better, would be 1 per installment. With all the additions to the raid, VoG would be massive right now if they had just kept adding to it. And fun as all Hell. Though, it's easier to just accept the fact that neither your ideas or mine will ever matter. Because they are gone, will not be brought back and that's just the way it is going to be.

19 RepliesAt this point in the game and with Destiny 2 coming near. Its pointless. The amount of new people...God we are talking hours in the vault. I will pass.
