IMO chroma should be permanently attached to a weapon/armour. By using a 'chroma wheel' you should be able to select what colour you want as long as you have attached it to your gear. So if there are 7 chroma colours, your gear should have 7 chroma nodes (as a wheel or something similar) in which you have to attach a colour before you activate it. But you can switch between what colours you have attached without losing the chroma. That way, if you change your Shader, you can change the chroma colour to suit. I know my way would 'cut into' the sales of Sterling Treasures so it will never be implemented (especially if Cozmo says he'll 'pass it on to the devs')* but, at the very least, add an exchange like you said. I've got plenty of white chroma i don't use because its not really noticable, but when its activated on Fallen themed gear, it looks like a bird took a dump on you. *sorry Cozmo, it just seems to be a theme with you.
