New study finds transsexuality to be a mental illness
But according to a new report published on Monday in The New Atlantis study—and utter common sense—transgenderism has zero grounding in science. Former Chief of Psychiatry at Johns Hopkins Hospital and Distinguished Service Professor of Psychiatry at Johns Hopkins University Dr. Paul R. McHugh and Arizona State University professor of statistics and biostatistics Lawrence S. Mayer co-authored the report, which found that "gender identity" is not removed from biological sex. In other words, a man cannot be born in a woman's body, or vise-versa.
Actual study: http://www.thenewatlantis.com/publications/introduction-sexuality-and-gender
http://www.dailywire.com/news/8592/report-transgenderism-not-supported-science-amanda-prestigiacomo?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&utm_content=062316-news&utm_campaign=benshapiro
So to those people I was arguing with that said conservatism holds back progress, this proves you wrong.

 • As a person who is heavily invested in Science, I sigh when every time some reads "A study shows" as gospel. For something to be a scientific fact, it must undergo rigorous testing. It must be peer reviewed, repeated, peer reviewed again, and must be proven beyond a shadow of a doubt. This is why every other day on the news you'll hear "Studies show chocolate helps prevent cancer" and the next day you'll hear "a new study put out shows an ingredient in chocolate may be a carcinogen." This goes for anything. every time I hear that I skip it. Every time I read "a new study shows..." On these forums I just reply with this. A single study means nothing in the eyes of academia. You will always need more testing, a larger sample size, more peer review, etc. Wait a few years and see what science has to say about it.
