There. I said it.
For the last few times December has passed by, all we ever get is Strange Coins from some unknown benefactor.
Well I say to hell with that!
We've got Valentines Day and Halloween.
Why not do an event for one of the most celebrated holidays there is.
-Snowing in the Tower
-Shaxx with a Santa Hat
-Rahool as the Grinch
-And more "CHRISTMASY" events
Whether or not people don't want this for "controversial" reasons, I don't care about that.
This is gonna have to happen someday.
We call it "Winter's Fair" and it's based around the Fallen House of Winter and Variks in the Reef.
-Ever since Draksis was killed, the House of Winter has been looking for a new Kell to replace him.
-Nikoliksis, Winter Claw, now seeks to claim Draksis's throne for himself by using the "Scarlet Septum"; a Vex-made power source from the future, to rebuild the House of Winter from the ground-up.
-Return to Venus and hunt down Nikoliksis before he gains enough power all over the Ishtar Sink.
Edit2: I keep hearing this "Christmas is a Christian holiday" crap.
Well here's a little know fact for ya that I'm gonna quote from a certain friend on here:
it was previously the Pagan festival of Yule, before the Christians stole it and re-marketed it as Christmas to fit their Dogma, so it had been a time of celebration for centuries before anyone had ever heard of 'Christ'
CHRISTMAS WAS NOT ORIGINALLY A CHRISTIAN HOLIDAY.
Edit: well I'm glad to see this is getting some positive results! Let's keep this thread bumping! Keep the good vibes going!
BTW no offense to anybody out there, we're not trying to persecute (at least im not) you guys or anything. We just want a winter holiday event without any complaints is all. :)
So I guess we can call it "Winter's Fair" then! :D
Edit3: okay...um remember when I said "keep the good vibes going"? I'm seeing less of that now. Enough with the arguments and Christian implications, let's all just agree to have a Winter holiday event. Let it snow!
Edit4: I see some people like the thought of Rahool as the Grinch, so I composed a short little song together for that ;)
You're a mean one, Mr. Rahool.
You really are deprived.
You're as cuddly as a Cabal,
You're as charming as the Hive.
Mr. Rahool.
You're a Legendary Engram
That gives us a green helmet.
You're a monster, Mr. Rahool.
Your heart's a deep black hole.
Your brain is full of salt,
You better give me MIDA Multi-Tool!
Mr. Rahool.
I wouldn't touch you, with Variks'
weird claw-looking pole.
Not a believer in god, and i dont take any offense to this idea. I may not believe in the backstory of Christmas, but it is still a great time to meet up with family and friends. And i mean, who doesnt like presents/ snow, even though my country doesnt get any ;( Great idea anyway my friend!

1 ReplyI sang that flawlessly

Yea, I would say not necessarily a "Christmas" event but a Winter themed event could work. Not every religion celebrates Christmas but lets face it, most have some celebration during the winter. It could just be called a Winter Festival or something.
-
3 RepliesNice idea man but sadly there's always gonna be that negative 10% of the community who are atheists. Bungie has to cater to all.
-
1 Reply1. Christmas is not the most celebrated holiday. 2. It should be called a "Winter festival" (to please all religions and atheists). 3. No religious stuff, just wrapped presents to open, hot cocoa consumables, snow in the tower, and a lot of the color gold

11 RepliesTo all of the people saying "Don't put religion in destiny" What about the Halloween event...other religions may celebrate it besides Christans,Catholics,Jews,Satanist etc...but Muslims don't celebrate it,but Bungie still puts it in the game...but renamed it...so when you think about it...their is religion in the game 😁

for edit 3, the southern hemisphere (Australia, NZ, etc) celebrate christmas in summer, not winter, so a season based event doesnt really make sense either. Besides, I already see the factions as religion based. NM = Muslim (one ruler, ie allah) FWC = Christians, fighting wars for their beliefs through history DO = Atheist / Nihilists everything will die/is dead, there is no hope. or maybe I read too much into factions. (wow, bet this post gets flamed hard after seeing some of the butthurt salt in your thread already.) Not really my intent, just giving a viewpoint.

This game is Global and should relate accordingly. Wave the old Stars and Stripes for a Hindu, Islamic, Celtic, Buddhist, Sheikh, Rastafarian festival (These cultures actually exist beyond a simple concept and out date by Centuries most of the current Western dogma) (Valued and as worthy as it is) Americanized, Anglicized center of the world concepts have been pushed down the the throats of most cultures for nearly 70 years and are difficult for the rest of the world to continue to swallow. It infests our laws, our media, our commerce. I'm surprised Sparrows are not left hand drive. Thanks but not thanks -

2 RepliesCleaver, cleaver creature... I like the pun and idea. I would love one. I don't celebrate Halloween but I didn't get my nickers in a twist because bungie decided to have a holiday. Y'all act like having a winter based activity is them forcing Christianity on y'all. Their not, people just want to have fun. Don't be a dick because somebody has a different opinion than you.
-
That would be dope af

8 RepliesSaying "happy holidays" ? Sure. "Merry Christmas"? Probably not wise. This same conversations came up last year, believe it or not, not everyone is Christian, or celebrates Christmas. So for those who celebrate (just to name a few) Hanukkah or Kwanzaa it will just be a slap in the face.

Rahool as the Grinch!!! +1

We had Crimson Days: a celebration of love which transcends culture. Nothing explicitly made it Valentine's over anything else. Festival of the Lost had aspects from multiple cultural holidays. There's Día de Muertos which honors the dead like FotL. Halloween with the candy and crap. And Samhain where the masks are believed to originate from to disguise you. It's also festival honoring the dead. I have nothing against a "Winter Festival" (btw, Christmas is mainly based on the Pagan Winter Solstice as a means of conversion). But the festival should incorporate aspects from multiple winter holidays of which there are quite a few.

Can we at least throw snowballs at each other?

4 RepliesVote for your opinion there if you feel like it :-P

6 RepliesAnd what happened, then? Well, in The Tower they say - that Master Rahools small heart grew three sizes that day. They brought him an engram, its color was blue, and out came exotics, if you can believe that was true.
-
1 ReplyI mean, we all praise a dead (or near dead/inactive, haven't dead the grim in a while), giant, round ball in the sky, so just call it Traveler Day or something. Say man first discovered the Traveler on Mars in the winter and they praise and celebrate the day we achieved higher knowledge.

1 ReplyEdited by Urban Shade: 8/25/2016 11:54:59 PMPlenty of MMOs celebrate Christmas. I don't get why destiny shouldn't (although I guess bungie is trying not to be insensitive.)I guess in the 21st century. Simply stating a certain holiday will get people triggered.

3 RepliesYou mean no offense to non Christians lol

8 RepliesBungie just needs to make Festivus happen.
