This doesn't bother me at all, this game should of never released on last gen consoles. Private matches would of been here sooner, more vault space, more locations but last gen couldn't handle it. People complain about updating but try having to upgrade pc stuff to keep up with the times, a good graphics card cost 300 to 1200 dollars and people in here complain about upgrading to a $299 console.

 • That means you'd have never got to play vanilla destiny for quite some while, sorry, logic flawed...

 • ...except for the fact that the old consoles made up the majority of their sales. When Destiny was launch, "80 million units were sold on the old consoles while only 20 million units were sold on next gen consoles." ( http://www.forbes.com/sites/insertcoin/2015/03/30/how-much-has-destiny-been-held-back-by-xbox-360-and-ps3/#7c53b8f18348). You have to bare in mind that the next gen consoles were considered new and had a low amount of people who own it. if Destiny didn't release for last gen consoles, I am fairly sure it wouldn't be where it is today. Also....if good graphic cards are that expensive...why not just buy a next gen console? You can still play some next gen games on your pc even with a terrible graphic card but you can't play ps4 games on a ps3. I have had my laptop for 4 years now and I still pass the requirement for some newer games. And I know the ps4 is more powerful than the ps3 but some games that can work on the last gen console are not sold for the last gen console in order to promote sales of next gen console. That doesn't happen with pc. With pc, there is no such thing as games sold for last gen and next gen. Lastly many pc games are known to have options to downgrade the graphics of the game in order to accommodate those with low end graphic cards....console doesn't have that.

 • yeah that's my point. If they made it next gen exclusive, they wouldn't be where they are today.

 • If companies didn't release these games on last gen people would of upgraded and the games would of been better.

 •
If companies didn't release these games on last gen people would of upgraded and the games would of been better.

yeah that's my point. If they made it next gen exclusive, they wouldn't be where they are today.
The odd thing is, you both can be kind of right. It really depends on the game. There are people that will want a game bad enough to make the jump to the next gen for the exclusive content. But, if a company isn't confident in their brands to take that bold a step, they may wish to play it safe and release a "teaser" of sorts on the older console with an established player base, and then later introduce the exclusive better content on the next gen--either as sequalization or expansion. For instance... look at some recent and pending releases: UC4, KH3, RE7, FF15, FFVII Remake, a host of other things announced at E3 and such. There are people that may finally make the jump to play games that they have invested a lot of time on with previous releases....just to continue (or relive) the experiences of the past. When you have an established IP like that, with a big following, you can hold out and do the exclusive next gen release and reap the rewards from it. But if you have been floundering about a bit, you may need to go ahead and cheeze a release to the masses in the larger console base to get the quick cash grab to support what you REALLY are trying to do with the franchise on the next-gen tech. It all depends on how strong that franchise either currently is, or you hope it will become with that next great big thing you plan to release.

If companies didn't release these games on last gen people would of upgraded and the games would of been better.
You mean like us hold outs are upgrading now? They needed last gen to fund/prove their IP/universe. I just want acces to my grimoire that the game STILL tells me to access at bungie.net Or delete it entirely. Don't give me something, that has been in game from the beginning, that I CAN'T access.

 • But the game would have also suffered from a lack of player base. If they hadn't released for last gen, maybe half their staff might have been cut and they wouldn't even have the chance to improve the game. I am coming to this theory based on the fact the game costed 500 million dollars to make as well as last year consoles making up the majority of their sales.

 • Yeah, but it still does it's job well. It would be nice if it was possible to upgrade a console like a pc, but my guess is that will never happen.

 • I have my doubts since it will mean a decrease in future sales for them.

 • Decrease in sales for what reason?

 • Decrease in the sales of consoles. There is no need to buy a new console if you can just upgrade parts of the old one to keep up with modern games. Think of it this way. How many people would buy a ps4 if they could upgrade the storage and performance of a ps3 to play any graphic intense game the ps4 can? If the ability to upgrade consoles are introduce, it will just end up being like a pc. I know many who own both a ps3 and ps4 but if upgrading parts were possible I don't see why someone would have both, just like it will be odd for someone to have two pcs, one that plays low graphic games and another that plays graphical intense games.

 • They could easily rig it to where you had to buy the parts from Sony or Microsoft though so they would still keep profits. Just make them have some weird attachment or whatever that only that company makes and problem solved.

 • But the ps3 was the last console sony made that used parts made by them. The ps4 uses parts that xbox has been using. Many of their parts are now built by other companies instead of them. If they were to rig the ps to be the way you are suggesting, they will just be going backwards on their progress. The ps4 and xbox one can now play more games that used to be only played on a pc mainly because their parts are now mimicking that of a pc which develops find great since it make it easier for them to port their games over to console. And even if they were to rig parts that only work for them, they would make less money selling parts than selling the whole unit. Why would someone bother to buy a new console if they can just replace the broken parts easily?
