While everyone here is expressing opinions on how the game should be, or talking about lore or doing polls to see what gun/subclass is the best (Not saying there's anything wrong with that)
There are a group of streamers who are raising money for charity - St Jude charity which helps children with cancer.
I think this is incredible.
If anyone would like to support the stream or even donate to such a wonderful cause - https://www.twitch.tv/destinycommunitycon
-They are currently at $455,000!!!
Edit - I feel like I should at least credit the people who put this together. If you would like why information then have a look at their website
- http://destinycon.co
And more information about the charity itself - https://www.stjude.org

I'm just trying to let people know what the Destiny community is doing..

Regardless if we donate to charity or not, patients are still seeing high premium prices for surgery and treatment. A lot of the families that get done with treatment will be in debt for the rest of their lives. Not once does the nurses ever say "oh this treatment is free because we get donations on the daily and it'll cover it". Regardless how much money you donate to them, every treatment is hundreds of thousands and every hospital has government funding. Hospitals get what they want and need regardless of donations. Not once have I ever not donated and said "I feel like an ass". $100 is a tank of gas and food for 2. $100 is a new video game. $100 is an insurance payment. $100 is a phone bill payment. $100 can be used for rent. $100 is more valuable to an individual than it is for these hospitals. Hospitals arent affected unless you raise hundreds upon thousands. So, if you feel obligated to throw away your hard earned (or parents) money, you just donate your little heart out, slugger. As for me, I benefit more from my money than a hospital ever will. EDIT: I posted this this morning when I was still half asleep and it seems pretty harsh. Charity events are a good cause and can save lives, but my overall point is dont feel guilty if you dont donate. Patients still have to pay the exact same even if you didn't. I'm sure the money is going towards great causes but i've watched way too many documentaries on corrupt events and people pocketing a portion of the money or other things take place. Charity events is great for advertisement and publicity and some people can do it just to get noticed. If you feel genuinely good about donating, go for it.

24 RepliesEdited by Kingslayer: 8/22/2016 12:41:43 PMHold up. I highly doubt anyone here is going to say donating and helping a charity is a bad idea, I mean, it's not, especially for the kids. With that being said though, let's look at for what it is. If you wanted to donate directly to the charity, you could. Streamers do cause awareness and I applaud them for doing that, however, I find a hard time using them as the outlet to give. At the end of the day, streamers are self promoting money hungry self promoters. It's pathetic that every other person on twitch is trying to sell a half baked t shirt and begging for subs then they try to justify it for some bs reason. Nevertheless, I'd advise people to not be sheeps and if you want to give, then give but I wouldn't advise donating to a person who then is going to give to the chairty. Think about it. Edit : I reread your post and the ending is comical. Basically, let's give credit to those who organized the stream? You do good things because you want to do good things, not to be recognized for them. This is exactly my point. Let us not forget it was the DESTINY COMMUNITY that gave their money, not the streamers. Hell, they didn't even do a match but some of them are building houses off of donations.. The whole thing is a self promoting pat on the ass.

1 ReplyWhat a great way to get a ton of people on your stream. I would only donate to one of these if the streamer was anonymous

Sounds cool, wish I could help donate

1 ReplyBecause the forums themselves are cancer and need to be destroyed.
-
1 ReplyYou mean they are raising money to give to the people who run the charity. Very little of that money will actually go to the "cause" charities are a scam
