All HandCannons are OP. In no reality do they have the range and damage at that range (nor accuracy) that they have in this game. They should not be able to outrage or out-TTK an AutoRifle in any "reality". It ..along with shotguns have become over utilized as "crutch" weapons for less skilled gamers. My opinion is that it should be a secondary weapon anyway... No one runs around in a combat theatre with a HandCannon as their primary weapon... They would be gunned down EVERY TIME.. Lol

Comparing a video game with reality. Try again.

Smith and Wesson model 600, with a 12" barrel. Accurate.
-
And with an M-16 you wouldn't even get close
-
In no way are handcannons OP. They only kill faster than other weapons at close range, and even then, they're fair to use since they are a high risk, high reward weapon. They are not crutches, they are simply somewhat consistent weapons that top tier players use because they are effective at what they do. The only thing you could possibly argue would be that they have the most accuracy of any primary when airborne, but even that isn't enough to make them OP.
-
Top Tier players? I can appreciate your perspective however the data doesn't support that either. Where are you getting your data from? Range accuracy and impact from a short barrel in No way should rival any Rifle type weapon. It's just "silly" and the data supports its overuse due to this ridiculous abnormality; especially since Bungie goes to great lengths to make the weapon mechanics as realistic as possible for the various weapon types for primary, Special, and Heavy.

Edited by Ness: 8/22/2016 12:52:03 PMLook at any players in the competitive community, and you'll see that the majority do them prefer handcannons. Wallah, Anbu, SirD, and TrueVanguard are just a few examples of great players who all prefer handcannons. I think you are confusing rivaling another weapon with the guns being over used. If you challenge someone with a handcannon at scout rifle range while the other person has a scout, you will lose every time. If you're using a scout at long range and you're getting out gunned by a handcannon, then there is something that you could do better on your end. If anything, handcannons need a buff to remove the bloom effect, but they certainly don't need a nerf. I have never had an issue with handcannons being too strong, even back in year 1 when handcannons could outgun scouts consistently. I think they are in a fairly good spot, so they don't need to be changed. You also need to remember that these are handCANNONS we're talking about, not normal revolvers. If you got shot by a revolver the size of one in Destiny, you'd probably die in 1 or 2 shots. So I think it's fair for you to be able to kill someone in 3 or 4 shots at close range.
-
They aren't 9mm they are hand CANNONS from the future.
-
Lol...
-
This is a game where players utilize magic that's given to them after being resurrected by a little robot sent from a large ball and you want realism? Hand cannons are the counterpart to scout rifles in destiny, and should at least be able to do well against them still
-
Go to DestinyTracker.com HandCannons and Shotguns are way over utilized as stated. In my opinion just the statement that A HandCannon is a Counter to a long range precision rifle (scout rifle) proves my point of its ridiculousness...lol

-
I'd say so... To my point a HC is not a counter to that either... Just too silly... Lol!
-
I was just saying lol

Handcannons are not over utilized. Two specifically are over used, being the last word and eyasluna. The overall handcannon class is not appealing to use anymore when one can use mida, or any fast fire rate pulse rifle.
-
The data doesn't lie????
-
So you're telling me you think that all handcannons are used equally? The last word accounts for a majority of handcannon kills today. Guns like hawkmoon, tfc and so many others are rarely used in crucible. You must not play much to only go off the destiny tracker

Edited by HRH FURY: 8/20/2016 6:34:05 PMNo need to be hostile or read more into my comments than what is written. The data is what the data is... Wether it agrees with your perspective or not? Additionally, you may want to look at my destiny profile and look at the Grimoire score and the character kills before you make statements like that.. You'll find that my PvP (using DestinyTracker) is in the Top 10% worldwide. But...like I said before everyone is entitled to an opinion ..mine, yours, theirs. Please try to refrain from insulting comments..it does not reflect well Edit: PvP time

I don't intend to offend with my comments but it seems you are speaking ignorantly on behalf of a weapon class that is overused based on a small group of weapons. Hand cannons are ineffective when placed against the likes of guns that don't have any place being as good as they are. Grasp of Malok, hawksaw, pdx, doctrine, and mida are the ones that need rebalance. Hand cannons just need to be fixed
-
I appreciate your comments. I am only stating my opinion that appears to be supported by the data available. Have you looked at the at the data?
-
What if I told you this was a game and NOT real life?
-
...wow.. What do you think they base the majority of their weapon mechanics on? Lol
