Elemental damage is only relevant in PvE and thus should only be obtainable in the endgame PvE content.

Or people who like to do both, such as myself, can use guns from both, such as adept weapons. Never got my hands on any, cause i dotn like trials, too sweaty, but if i did, im sure id use them in pve

Adept Trials guns right now are a complete joke. The perk on them is an insult to the PvP community. Endgame PvP content should be giving you unique, USEFUL perks that are focused on PvP combat and unobtainable outside of Trials. This is coming from a PvE player. I believe that both sides of the house deserve good stuff, but gear from both sides needs to be relevant to the content for which it is earned in.
