I heard from someone that Crota was once a Thrall and that all Hive Wizards and Knights also started off as Thralls.

Yep. They kill and kill and rise through the ranks from a spawn which might not even survive, but if it does it becomes a thrall

Yes. Then as they feed and grow their worm they grow into an acolyte then could grow into a wizard or knight.

2 RepliesWell, being Oryx' personal spawn perhaps Crota had a slightly different path. I dont remember him taking a Knight morph either yet look at him.

They start life as eggs, the larvae. Thrall is their juvenile humanoid form. They are expected to fight and claw their way up, taking power from those they defeat. Ultimately reaching the stage they choose their final form. Then they fight to ascend. I doubt Crota and his sisters had any special treatment. Hive philosophy is that they must take. Nothing is given. Ogres are tortured through Hive rituals until all that is left is rage and pain. The Proto-hive were known as Krill, though they looked pretty much the same, 2 arms, 2 legs, 3 eyes, etc.

From what I've gathered from the Books of Sorrow, I like to think the hive started out as thrall-like beings before they met the Deep. They're similar to earth-based insects or certain sea life.

I heard this: Every hive startes as a thrall than by using the sword logic evolve to an acolyte, using the sword logic again and if it is a male becoming an knight and females becoming a wizzard. Ogres are made more painfull, they take a thrall, tie him up, and forcing him to swallow a bunch of worms and then the pain gets so big so they evolve into an ogre Cant confim it but i have heard if from many sources. The ogre part is confirmed tho, think i saw it in a lore video.
