Why was Osiris exiled?

I'm curious to here your theory as to why exactly the speaker exiled Osiris. He was the apprentice to the speaker but the became rivals and Osiris began to ask questions. Not to mention his lore is riddled with hints that he does not respect and doesn't trust the speakers intentions. Thoughts?

  • Because the speaker was a casual and osiris was a try hard sweaty so the speaker asked the traveler to ban Osiris so that he could make it to the lighthouse

  •
My theory is *heavily* rooted in Grimoire.
He was exiled because of his insatiable curiosity both about and for the Vex. When the Vex overtook his life, his colleagues became concerned for his well-being and reported those concerns to the Speaker. Because of his ravenous appetite for Vex secrets, Osiris was deemed to be losing his sanity, since he was likely long past the "safe" research limit for most Warlocks.

    • The Speaker wants to maintain his own power. One of the reasons he specifically stated for kicking osiris out was because osiris wanted to learn the specific nature of the darkness

      • Because Osiris started questioning the Speaker. Its probably because he's full of crap. I do think he is full of crap, he watches that spinny thing that is able to warn us of possible attacks and he doesn't warn us about anything. He didn't warn us about Oryx, Eris did out of anything. He didn't warn us about Skolas. He didn't warn us about SIVA. He doesn't even talk or do anything for us what do ever. He hasn't had a role since the main story and that ended almost 2 years ago. I'd gladly start questioning his ass.

        • He was more self-exiled. He didn't like the city so he left. He chooses not to come back. The speaker may have even been trying to call Osiris back by sending saint-14 after him.

          • Well, what you saud is why he got exiled, mainly. On top of that, many Guardians started following his lead, abandoning their duties and searching for 'answers'. Of course this threatens the unity and order of the Tower, so they kicked hin out. I think he welcomed it though. It let him be free.

          • Because he: 1. Allowed Final Round in ToO 2. Allowed Thorn in ToO 3. Allowed Y2 lighthouse guns to suck 4. Allowed LitC in ToO 5. Allowed Bungo to remove connection priority in Y2 ToO 6. Allowed rafle/subs/paid carries in Y2 7. Allowed internet manipulation in ToO And I think he got off easy. If you ask me, he should have been shot in the street like a dog for all of the things I listed.

          • All the knowledge he gained through his studies and passed along, whether true or not, was detrimental to the unity of both the Tower and the City. Despite his incredible power with the Light, he was a grave threat to it. It's possible he realized this and left on his own accord or he was a dangerous mixture of ignorant and stubborn and was forced to leave, either way, quite a few Guardians went with him.

This is what the Speaker says on the matter
I admit, I found your questions divisive and disloyal, and I feared you might be capable of breaking our unity when the City's position had grown so tenuous. Why divert attention away from the Traveler, our only hope? And then it got worse, dabbling in thanatonautics, Ahamkara-lore, chasing after Xur and the tricks of the Nine. Launching expeditions into the Reef and beyond at a time when ships were irreplaceable. Your quest split Guardians along ideological lines. This was your greatest crime: Hunters chose to pursue your visions instead of protecting refugees, Titans assembled teams to chase the legendary Vault of Glass instead of striking the Fallen, and Warlocks turned away from the study of the Traveler in favor of your ultimate obsession... learning the exact nature of the Darkness. When debate became argument, and argument became acrimony, I realized you had already become a cult of personality, attracting Guardians who wanted a clear idea of why they were fighting, what they faced, and how they would ultimately win.
