I don't really like these event pokemon. It's basically allowing every player to obtain a legendary, making them far from "rare". Also they usually start at level 50/70/100, and by that point in the game i couldn't care less about using them.
Now if they gave them to you at level 1 it would make for an awesome reason to start a new game and level them up yourself.

Nevermind that in-game mechanics prevent over-use of events and traded mons in a normal playthrough. Also, who hasn't beaten the game yet at this point? :/
