Daily reminder: Handcannon "ghost bullets" still happening. Still frustrating.

Hey all. Daily reminder that the "ghost bullets" are still a thing. I am going to start uploading clips every day... It is like the sandbox team does not recognize this is happening... Even in close quarters. Well, happy hunting. PvP for life lol.

If you are proficient enough to land consecutive headshots...they should count.

    • Only way to counter this crap is rifled barrel or reinforced barrel with rangefinder. Its already hard enough to get the damn hcs to drop muchless get the right roll.

            As much as I love hawkmoon, my Lord high fixer etc etc the go to should not be luck in the chamber, I mean cmon, I'm all for removing the 'ghost bullet' issues were having right now but being able to 2 tap someone so quickly is simply ridiculous

          • I used to love hand cannons was pretty good with the right one. Have 2 awesome eyeasluna's that have really good range and stability. And for awhile there I would win almost any engagement. But now for some reason I shoot more blanks than a guy that had a vasectomy. One time I can get someone from scout rifle range next time shotgun range nothing hits. I now don't even try to go for the head shot since I don't want to lessen the few bullets that might hit to actually make contact. It's great that I see posts that are addressed to change color of armour and be able to use year 1 items. Changing the look of twilight garrison should be addressed before fixing an issue that causes bullets to fade into nothingness. I guess till then I will have to no longer use the guns I really enjoyed and use the ones that actually work.

            • I made a post about the same exact thing about a week or two ago. You wouldn't believe how many people tried telling me that I was an idiot, because "Phantom Bullets" don't occur. They tried saying that it's only me missing, because I suck, and other comments along those same terms. I think that they either... 1. Don't know they're @ss from a hole in the ground 2. Don't use Handcannons enough to even know 3. Use handcannons, but are to dumb to realize the difference between a miss and a "phantom bullet" Of course, you can try to educate these jack@sses, but it will be to no avail. They're ignorant of the facts for a reason, that's not going to suddenly change, just because you'r telling them so. No, in their eyes, you're just some stupid idiot and they are the all-knowing Destiny crucible sniper god and they never miss a shot and their k/d is so much higher than yours, so they are just the f@cking master. I've learned to just "smile and nod", in a sort, to these idiots. The reason they're attacking you in the first place is, well, because of the reasons I listed above, but also because it makes them feel good. It makes them feel like they put somebody down and they think it made them look good, because a couple of their idiot brethren have agreed with them. anyway, I totally agree with you. Shots fired from a gun should not be RNG. If the reticle is over the enemy target when the trigger is pulled, the shot should register exactly where the reticle was pointing to on their body, every single time.

              • Apparently, there is a nice long thread about similar crucible issues on reddit. In the thread Triplewreck does a handcannon test that is linked... It is all worth a long look. There are problems with pvp and then there are problems with handcannons. I agree that one of the biggest handcannon issues is the cone bloom/bloom cone - and this broken idea is apparently the brain child of sandbox team member Sage Merrill (sp?) He is supposed to have introduced this to Halo Reach and Shadowrun. It is also apparently a significant reason that Reach is no longer part of MLG. My response: "This is a serious issue. It is a fundamental design failure by the sandbox team. When this happens (and It does almost every gunfight), a cascade of consequences follows: 1. bullets miss when you know you were aimed correctly and within range 2. You die or run away 3. You begin to doubt or second guess your agency in the game (player control, power, skill) 4. You begin to treat each conflict with tentative restraint 5. It keeps happening! 6. The visual cues (reticle, sight, movement, etc) and the feeling of agency (my aim, speed, pacing) are not trustworthy... the game is now luck based and no longer fun. My skill does not matter. I have to play afraid instead of emboldened by my ability - since my ability is not what is winning or losing the fight. Here we have a FPS that is fundamentally screwing with the player's ability to interact with the game world in a predictable way when it comes to the most important act they can perform in a FPS! Broken. Broken does not begin to describe how wrong it is to play RNG with player accuracy. Bloom cone is a terrible solution to getting people to use scout rifles. Contrast this with the experience of using my Grasp... with that gun I have a laser beam of bullets that can down a target from 2 meters up to what feels like 100 meters. I always feel in control and powerful... I always know what will happen when I pull the trigger. I always trust the visual input to guide my next shot. Playing with a Pulse Rifle feels like playing a different game. A better game. This breaks my heart since I love hand cannons. LOVE them. I saw this article and just tried a round with a handcannon I like... I WAS DECIMATED. I could not even get into range of the firefight (map design), I could not see the heads of my opponent (small ADS zoom), My shots continually missed (range and bloom cone) so much that I drastically slowed down my shot pacing to the point that I could never win an engagement. oh, and the entire brawl descended into a shotty sniper battle anyway so my lowly handcannon was ripped apart anyway..."

              • I want to use hand cannons, I really do. But these phantom bullets are stopping me, there's no point in using them when all other primaries don't have this problem. Consistency is the most important trait in a weapon.

                  • Hand cannons are not the only thing getting ghost bullets. My NLB has them often (but only body shots crits register fine).

                    First shot - hit Second shot - hit Third shot - aim for body to have less chance of missing - miss Fourth shot - take longer for recoil reset before firing - miss Fifth shot - killed by opponent before I could fire The usual hand cannon experience.

                    • I love how the range stat means nothing on weapons. My Lord HF has more than twice the range of my Grasp, yet can't even get a hit marker at half the distance the Grasp hits at almost full damage.

                        First shot: Critical hit Second shot: Hit, oh can I get the killing blow?! Third shot: Miss... the hell?! Fourth shot: Veers off to the right, resulting in my death If I was playing Nerfstiny any longer this whole ghost bullet crap has to go for the sake of hand cannons, shotguns and even fusion rifles. Bunghole needs to either drastically lower or remove cone spread entirely as it is even worse than CoD shotgun cone spread... and believe me CoD had it rough with ghost bullets too, but not like Nerfstiny.

                        • Worst issue in the game currently.... Shotguns have the same issues but both are dealing with issues of super close range encounters and no damage or mediocre damage is done to your opponents.... Problem is the same with Sidearms also...No shotgunner or shoulder charger should not be able to rush you with close range weapon but yet they do

                        • Hell even shotties suffer from phantom bullets this "accuracy cone" just needs to be removed from the game. Now this is getting ridiculous why does bungie punish the skilled players who can actually land all head shots with a hand cannon? Now and days when u get in a 1v1 primary fight ur most likely going to lose the fights becuz the bullets from ur hand cannon continuously just fade right through the player and causes u to lose the gun fight, when in reality in year one if u were to do that you would of won bcuz u successfully landed all ur head shots and u would of gotten the kill. Now in year 2 bungie punishes the skilled players who "got gud" at the game and to me it just seems they want more scrub players who cant even aim a gun to be good at this game..i swear thats what it seems like to me..the skilled players seem decent but the scrub players get watever they want and are "gods" at the game. Point being.....please remove the accuracy cone on all weapons and take it out of the games coding system....please..

I Believe this issue stems from the original first round of weapon nerfs way back in year one when they started this whole "game balance" nonsense because some players decided some guns were OP and instead of using the same gun or changing strategy to compensate they complained. This was back when the Suros Regime, Pocket Infinity, etcetera were all ruined too if you remember; also at the time the Thorn's enormous range cause many complaints. Because of this they did things to the weapons to make them less accurate; this wasn't just damage fall off either, since then bullets just quit flying where they were supposed to. If the game's original weapon parameters were restored this would probably all go away, but that'll never happen (to many people complain about getting killed). Instead it'll one nasty patch after another that don't mesh well causing new problems to arise; you can't mess with one piece of line code and it not screw something else up. Fingers crossed for Destiny II... Get it right the first time and leave it alone!
