Bring back primary elementals

One of the best things about year one was how raid and trials primaries were elemental. They felt special and unique and was something I missed in year two with the exception of supercell Edit1 (7/31/16): great job guys on bumping this up! Hopefully we will get a response soon that isn't plain Jane

    Elemental cores would work. ~Get a core as a rare drop in nightfalls or completing raids. ~Have a Reasonable chance at each weapon being able to be upgraded upon dropping, or alternatively bring it to gunsmith to upgrade it ~Have 2 out of 3 possible damage types to upgrade into for each weapon. (Damage type Choices would not randomize, they would be locked from gun to gun. For example: Hung Jury could only be Arc or Void damage) ~Implant a core into a gun (Damage type would be unable to change after initial upgrade.) Seems like it would be better than what we have now.

      • I don't think raid weapons should be the Only Thing with primary elementals. Instead, doing raids should grant us an item, An item box sphere thingy or something space-magical of a random color. You then choose which weapon you want to change or infuse the element into. It could be any weapon primary. But only these drop on hard boss or whatever they do here. Very rare. You can probably go as far as to using them on exotics too. I know one reason for the drop of elemental primaries was primary exotics lacking color. Make the raid exotic Rainbow! Lol. Somewhere or something along this train of thought might be cool. I'd need to think about it more.

What should happen is a method where we can add whatever element we want to any weapon we want. Everything starts out kinetic, and then we add the burns.

          • Duh, of course we want them back! They were NOT easy to come by. Raid weapons, once gotten, had to be upgraded with raid exclusive materials that required additional raiding. Yes, they enhanced shield damage per element. Yes, they had nice perk rolls. Fun weapons that deserve to stay in the game (Not just in normal PVP).

            • Just putting this out there, buuuuut Y1 raid weapons weren't awesome because of the color damage. They were good because they were just that - good. No one grinded Templar for FB because was Arc, or VoC because it was Solar. They were flat out the best weapons available. And the burn did next to nothing outside of the Weekly or NF when burns were active. And when there was a burn, it limited your choice of weapons to 1/4 of your arsenal. Now, you can use [i]any weapon.[/i] no restrictions.

                Now now, remember what our own "special" snowflake Luke Smith once said about elemental primaries, "it hinders weapon diversity." I mean remember in year 1 how everyone was using Necrochasm, Abyss Defiant, and Fang of Ir Yut exclusively? Then it got worse a little later on when Dead Orbit sold the good Hung Jury. I mean, wow. Talk about limited to one gun. And now the trend continues with MIDA Multi-Tool............oh wait..... ¬.¬ Bungie's infinite wisdom.

                    you can thank puke smith for the removal of elemental primaries he said they stifled weapon diversity but what he doesn't realise is we are willing to drop our light level to use year 1 elemental primaries for elemental burns in strikes and quite possibly the night falls if scumgie were smart they would give us elemental primaries back but the release of the patch that temporarily broke them game proves they're a bunch of braindead idiots
