9 RepliesEdited by TheArtist: 7/28/2016 1:47:23 PMYou're as bad as the Sky TV people who sued them for trademark infringement.....does anyone study HISTORY anymore?? "No Man's Sky" is an allusion. It is a playful reference to the phrase "No Man's Land". The highly lethal area (that nobody wanted to ever go into ) BETWEEN the trenches on the Western Front during World War I. It was called "No Man's Land" because...in era before armored vehicles...the artillery, the snipers, the machine guns and the barbed wire ensured that few people who ventured into that area ever came back alive. Which is why the phrase "Going over the Top (of the trenches and into NML to attack the other sides trenches)" would inspire TERROR in the soldiers of the day. Because it basically was a suicide run. The game is probably called "No Man's Sky" as a reference to the inherent danger that an EXPLORER faces when venturing out into the unknown.

4 RepliesI'll give it a go. By saying that it's no man's sky, they're implying that it's only a woman's sky.

You could ask the same thing about why humans are referred to as "mankind". It's just a general term used for all humans

1 ReplyWell actually it says that sky doesn't belong to any man. So i'd say it's clearly biased against men.

3 RepliesI think you will find that 'man' is being used as an all encompassing term for all sexes and genders in this case.... As in 'human'.

4 RepliesEdited by Mr Bossypants: 7/28/2016 8:59:00 AMWrong and I'll prove it with science. Men have the natural urge to conquer, to command. The name "No Man's Sky" isn't a bias towards women, but a challenge for man. We are being challenged to tackle this game head on and prove that without a shadow of a doubt, we are the alpha males and the "Sky" does in fact belong to man. Let's show those developers at Hello Games who's in charge and that reverse psychology bullshit doesn't work on us.
