TL;DR: The Destiny 2 Feedback Forum would be a sub-forum (separate from this here, the D1 Feedback Forum). To post in the Destiny 2 Feedback Forum, you must purchase Destiny 2. To continue posting in the Destiny 2 Feedback Forum, you need to purchase the latest Destiny 2 content. You would not lose your right to post here, in the Destiny 1 Forum. And, you would be able to read any and all posts in the D2 forums.
Ex-players who hang around the forums solely to troll those of us who still play should not be able to post in the Destiny 2 Feedback Forum. With the exception of one ex-player – he who shall not be named – they have nothing to offer. Nothing. The only reason they are allowed to continue to troll the D1Feedback forum is because Bungie knows they would open themselves up to lawsuit by revoking forum privileges simply because a person no longer plays. But, that does not – SHOULD NOT – be the policy with Destiny 2.
My suggestions for Forum Policy in Destiny 2:
1. All forum users must have a valid gamertag/PSN profile linked to their Bnet account. No more, “This account has not played Destiny.”
2. Only current players have forum privileges. The definition of “current” is up to you, Bungie. One option, and probably the easiest to enforce, is that the players have to have purchased the most recent DLC to post in the forums.
Now, I am aware that you ex-playing trolls will say I’m suggesting these restrictions in order to silence differing opinions. And you know what: YOU’RE RIGHT! The thing is, the only opinions you ever share is how much Destiny sucks and how stupid we are to continue to play. This toxicity should not be permitted to continue into Destiny 2.
And, I am aware that there are some ex-players who like to browse the forums and comment from time-to-time. I recognize that you are not trolls. But, all I can say to you is sorry. The constant trolling, the automatic down-voting and reporting by ex-players, and the creation of alternate accounts just to continue trolling while banned (for trolling!) has to stop. Perhaps Bungie could implement a system where ex-players can read forum posts, just not make posts or respond to them.
Anyway, if you really care about this Community and this game, Bungie, you'll do the right thing with Destiny 2, and restrict Destiny 2 Feedback Forum posting to current players.

3 RepliesWow... Censorship, Carni? Before I left, you were making posts that placed you well above willful ignorance of this magnitude. What a difference a couple of months makes... 1) You should sincerely be ashamed that you little fingers ever pounded that out on an open Forum. 2) When you (at the same time in other threads) start making posts about how the "detractors" are trying to censor "anything positive about Destiny by trying to shout down the positive", I would have expected the exact opposite post to what this OP contains. 3) By the simple fact that you ever authored this OP, you are a hypocrite. 4) By posting this OP, you prove to have as little integrity as certain other "supportive 'journalists'" lack. i.e. You have none. 5) Really, how can you stomach the blatant hypocrisy and logical fallacies that you put in that OP. I'm truly amazed that someone could churn out such blatant bullshit... I don't know what happened to you and certain other people in the months I took a small sabbatical from these Forums; but you've sacrificed your integrity, objectivity, and credibility. And for what? What did you receive that would make such a character assassination on yourself worthwhile? Really; reading this trite garbage has me literally shaking my head in shocked awe at the depths that you've sunk to. What the hell happened to you?

5 RepliesAs much as I want to be on board with this Law, I simply can't get behind it. I think I saw the post that may or may not have been the inspiration of this (a parody, of sorts). While posts like that are toxic to the community as a whole, shutting all players out unless D2 is purchased isn't the way to fix it. Some players left, yes, and hang around to see the state of the game. Some of the most intelligent amd thought-out suggestions to this game have been made by folk who don't play anymore. That doesn't mean I'm condoning the actions of those who seek to belittle those who do play, because that's just a dick move on their part.

3 RepliesEdited by TurtleBrainMan: 7/29/2016 1:50:43 PMExcellent idea...tired of people who dont play coming here with fake feedback.

3 RepliesEdited by unspoken threats: 7/30/2016 2:04:37 AMWouldn't a somewhat good solution be the removal of down votes? Honestly I've never down voted anyone's opinion. But if predators of innocent feedback can disrupt the ability to trend potentially insightful ideas wouldn't a pragmatic fix be to employ this? I think so.

25 RepliesSo a little history...I used to own and operate a forum that had a very robust comment section such as Bungie has. I had a little over 5000 people a day commenting in about 10 different sections. I only had 5 moderators. It is extremely difficult to read each thread. To understand the full context of a statement unless you are personally involved...and even with that, having some history of the possible relationship between users is almost impossible. Not to mention comments that wouldn't stay on topic. Towards the end before I shut it down, I did create sub sections, which I think is what you are asking for. This was done simply as a cost effective move to limit the number of off topic categories that were crowding in on the more specific topics that were getting lost under each category group. For Bungie, And I think what you are suggesting, is 1 for general feedback and 1 for current paid owner feedback. In theory it does make sense. Bungie, could separate current game feedback more easily. But that means their website would have to be able to determine who has purchased the latest update. I'm not sure that is possible. I think where this benefit gets lost is the reasoning behind it. It isn't cost effective for Bungie to create a separate forum for the limited number of people who may not currently play or own the latest Destiny game. I think those members are very limited. And while I understand your reasoning, I don't agree with restricting comments or people’s ability to talk freely within the rules that exist today on this website. I also understand the limited capabilities of the forum operator and moderators. It’s not easy to manage. So there are mute options and reporting functions. I think this is the best they can offer for now.

3 RepliesEdited by AGORIGINAL: 7/29/2016 4:50:23 AMI want to ban the people from the forum who doesn't drink the dtc cool aid and worship us as forum gods! Is all I'm reading on this post

I hear that argument, Sols, but right now, all I have to go on is Bungie's abysmal failure at moderating the forums we have. I have no faith that they'll do any better on a day-to-day basis with Destiny 2
Interesting,.... you make a post hoping it would make a difference in this game. Yet you claim you have (no faith in Bungie ) Kinda beats the purpose on you making this post if you don't have faith in them.
Thus, I proposed a more cut-n-dry way to maintain some level of auto-moderation in the Destiny 2 Feedback Forum.
Funny thing is, they can do it now ;)
I am open to other suggestions, as long as the toxic bullshit we have here is not allowed to continue simply due to Bungie's lack of forum policing balls.
Hmm, i seem to remember a few toxic post from you only about Bungie. Do you really think people forget the hatred you have shown Bungie since you been on this forum? Personally I think this post should be removed.... you call me a troll for telling the truth. Then you state that you want me to leave this forum, but yet you continuously click the like on many of my replies and have been since you joined this site. In fact you clicked like on two replies just on this post today. What do you call people that act one way with the community by posting on the open forum calling them a troll, but secretly like who they call a troll by clicking the like on many of their replies?
-
5 RepliesNice generalization you made there. Unless I am the one you mentioned as the exception, I guess according to your logic that makes me a troll even though on rare occasion I do provide feedback related responses to people about game metrics and Bungie itself. I still like to see what has changed in the game and enjoy a discussion on it. You should be well acquainted with my writing style; I have written enough comments under your posts along with others you know, in the past and I have replied to your comments under my few threads. Guess that still makes me out of luck though because of what others have decided to do in here. Most of the time now when I come here, I just simply read posts and talk with the people I know in the group system. I do not make troll posts nor do I report people as that is just idiotic in my book whether I agree with their sentiments or not. Yeah, I know Mal, Casey and Krazy and talk with them quite a bit as I just enjoy them for who they are, but you do not see me doing what you described now do you?

11 RepliesEdited by cbrstar: 7/28/2016 8:50:06 PMI don't think it would be a good idea to exclude anyone at this point for Bungie. Due too there's going to be some really hard feelings for people who can't play come September, as I know I had some when TTK was released. They are going to need to perform all the major damage control possible, to convince people to cough up $400 bucks to continue on playing Destiny.
-
1 ReplyEdited by Soupreem: 7/29/2016 5:36:00 AMI wouldn't mind better moderation to forbid some of this toxicity. Hell, I'd be willing to retire from being summoned for that stuff. I might be in the minority agreeing with you, but I feel like having a feedback forum for Destiny 2 players only wouldn't be a horrible idea.
-
1 ReplyYou have a knack for upsetting the hornet's nest.
-
4 RepliesAfter thinking about this today, I still think that exclusion isn't the answer. I believe better moderation is what's needed but not Reddit style. I like B.net for what it is, I'd hate to lose that.
-
11 RepliesWhat about alt abuse, Carni? Reddit has rules in place to keep an ip from entering a banned forum, it should be implememented here too. Thats how you guys get around being banned, and its also how you guys attack those who dont share your views and remain safe yourselves. Cowardice. I get where youre coming from though, its a whole lot easier to manipulate and mind control kids when we're not around.
-
4 RepliesI disagree. I think the forums could be better moderated, but that is a separate topic.
-
49 RepliesI unequivocally disagree.
-
3 RepliesYou know Carni, if you remember back a couple months you posted about some of the name calling that goes on in these forums and I personally viewed it as a sort of "call for peace" between some of the groups who have opposite views of Bungie's decisions. And I supported and agreed with that post, even though I don't always share your opinion there are times when I do. This one though I can't agree with. Just because someone's profile, like mine for example, says they haven't played the game in a while doesn't mean they haven't. My nephew has all the dlc up to this point and I have played with him on his profile a few times. From that experience I can draw my own conclusions about the state of the game and then compose valid feedback. Yet even if I hadn't played the game over the past year, with twitch or you tube I could easily find videos that would show me the state of the game and could also compose valid feedback from them. Or even come up with solid ideas on how the game could be better. So to just throw out all the players who don't buy Destiny 2 I think would be a big waste of both some interesting feedback or potentially great ideas on improvement. As a few others have pointed out there are many players who hang around still because they hope that things will change. They are here because they are passionate about gaming, if they didn't care they would have left already. Of course are a few actual trolls mixed in there, absolutely! But many times I have seen people accused of being trolls when in truth it was just a discussion between players of differing opinions that devolves into name calling and false accusations. And the secret to dealing with trolls is to IGNORE them! Don't reply to them and if they get real bad then just mute them. Personally I love this style of game (I call it the RPG/Shooter) but am disgusted by some of the things Bungie has implemented. Bungie reminds me of that Gotye song Somebody that I Used to Know, they did so well with the Halo series yet now to me have fallen so low and can seemingly go no lower. So I am going to call them out on their decisions when I see fit. Yet at the beginning I did give them praise for what they got right. It has one of the most solid foundations of any game out there today. Unfortunately the house they assembled on top makes the straw house from the 3 little pigs look like the great pyramid of giza! I'm just not someone who can get behind punishing everyone just because of the actions of a select few.

1 ReplyEdited by Mr.Thrasher: 7/28/2016 7:46:27 PMWell this is a big nope. I plan on staying with destiny, but that doesn't mean we should stop those who don't move forward from posting thoughts . It is not like every single person is a troll. And everyone shouldn't be generalized like this. And people who do get D2 will not doubt have some trolls. Doesn't mean we should stop them from posting.

35 RepliesTwo words: "Screw. That." So much for respecting the decision of others to quit playing the game. =/
Now, I am aware that you ex-playing trolls will say I’m suggesting these restrictions in order to silence differing opinions. And you know what: YOU’RE RIGHT! The thing is,
No, "the thing is" nothing. THAT comment right there immediately defiles everything. And its likewise ridiculous for you to automatically label each and every single person on the forum who no longer plays as a "Troll" when in reality that couldn't be further from the truth. And in all seriousness, there are PLENTY of "current" players (As you define yourselves) who do a crap ton of Trolling. Have yourself a read through the comments section of my last Guardian Council post to see for yourself; Insults and rude behavior left and right from the lot of 'em. You and anyone else who thinks like you need to kindly get over yourselves. If you want a forum where you can call all the shots and dictate who can or can't speak even a single god damn word, then go make your own. Period. Use some -blam!-ing common sense. I know that shit is in short supply these days, but I think we could spare at least a little bit for simple crap like this...
-
3 RepliesFeedback from new players is just as important as that from the more experienced ones.
-
5 RepliesWay to promote exclusion. Selfish
-
5 RepliesTrolls are so easy to deal with. You ignore them. I don't know why people don't get this. If you ignore them they go away.
-
2 RepliesEdited by unspoken threats: 7/28/2016 5:30:34 AMI always like reading your thoughts but this is one I can't fully get behind. The way I look at it is this: someone wants to raid but because they've never done it they're disallowed by multiple fireteams to partake even though they've watched YouTube videos and are up to speed with the mechanics. They've watched so many damn YouTube videos they can probably do it better than those who were in it. Now, the hopeless raider is like those who've never bought Destiny 2; they're vigilant of the happenings and more than likely have committed some form of time and energy to understanding the game, weapons and the mechanics. The people who boot them from their fireteams are those who think they know nothing and are unwelcome because they haven't played Destiny 2. Observation is not something that should be overlooked. To many it's a greater method than hands-on learning because it's stress free. I know, I know, not every troll or bad apple knows the esoteric nature of TTK nor will they know Destiny 2's and, frankly, they may not even care to. But just remember that some will...and their voices...will be lost.

4 RepliesThe way I see it, this board has devolved into 4 classes: - The self appointed elite who think everything they say is gold and they almost refuse to comment or engage with anyone outside of their own little clique. They pat each other on the back non stop. They try to come off as balanced in their opinion in some hope that they have favor with Bungie and be taken seriously by them yet not lose whatever "support" they have from the masses who follow them. - The unreasonable who just claim everything in total is shit with this game and/or just have a hair trigger and come out of nowhere with a whole thread with the OP just being "Nerfs dis shit ahjlshdashgfdjlashgfd!!!!" - The apologists who will swing from Bungie's sack no matter how many times Bungie straight lies and/or farts right in their cereal. They'll eat it none the less and then tell you how you're stupid for not understanding how good it is to have Bungie fart in your cereal. They'll regurgitate some quasi thesis explanation with the length of a Tolstoy epic they pulled from Reddit or some streamer. - The people who call everything as they see it. The bullshit and the good the Bungie does and don't give a flying fuq what anyone thinks of them. These people aren't here to gain friends, some kind of e-fame or get warm fuzzies or stroke each other about how faux smart they are with some ridiculous explanation for why the recent nerfs were a good thing. They want to discuss issues and hope this game goes back to its former glory. These people often get criticized by both sides; the 24/7 haters and the 24/7 jock swingers. I wouldn't want this place to change. I like seeing everyone's opinion whether they are an active player or not. Also, the wild west antics on this place keep me entertained M-F while at work lol. Would hate to lose that.

1 Replythen next to no one would be on this furry forum. May as well move to reddit at that point and shut this shit show full of dick jokes, down !!!
-
1 ReplySo a new forum then aside from this one for D2? Legacy console players and those who do not upgrade to the new expansions but still play still need a place to report problems. Maybe add a section that only D2 users can access for new content feedback. I agree if you no longer own the game or haven't played since vanilla then you are not really contributing to the progression or improvement of the content. This is not a public forum like Reddit, it's a private company owned and maintained forum and Bungie can manage it however they like. In the end they need to do what's best for the community and the game.

1 ReplyAs someone who has not played in several months, I agree... To an extent. I don't think someone should have posting privileges if they don't play. However, I enjoy reading posts by you and Sols among others. Maybe that would be a good way to go.
