Hi,
You will need to repurchase The Taken King for Xbox One, even if you bought it on 360. The expansion is console-specific and is not eligible for transfer.

When you say it's console specific does that mean if you replace an existing Xbox one with a new Xbox one S, it has to be purchased again? Or are you saying it's console gen specific?

Console gen specific. If you purchase TTK on your account on Xbox One, it'll be available for you to download if you get a new Xbox One. No one knows the specifics for Xbox One S, so I can't tell you if it would work the same.
