Year 1 Crucible

Was I the only one who liked shotguns with dumb range, two shotting hand cannons, two burst kill pulses, AR's that melted, fusions that mapped people, scouts that did their job, and supers that actually felt super? With all these nerfs the game has been getting more and more "campy" and slow. I preferred the HoW meta, the original AR meta back before The Dark Below, hell even the Felwinters sniper was more fun to play against than what the crucible is now. The reason specials are so good at the moment is because primary's aren't (except a few ie. Hawksaw, grasp, mida). Please start buffing primary's. Make them usable. And just a thought Bungie, maybe a fast Time To Kill isn't a bad thing...

  • Ask urselves Ask any vet.... How fun was year 1? How about year 2? Look at the crazy amount of hours players put into year 1, now look at how stressful it is to do the same in year 2

        You know bungie did something wrong when you want thorn to cross-map two-tap you again. I totally agree with you, the fast-paced gameplay was way more enjoyable. Not so noob-friendly, but a lot of fun nonetheless. But that's nostalgia, crucible right now is more balanced than it ever was.

          I've said it before and I'll say it again. You're wearing nostalgia goggles. Year 1 crucible had equal-but-different issues. Balancing was the real problem back then. Today primaries feel much more aligned -- but there's still a lot more work to be done in that department. If people are that worried about it then they just need to further limit special ammo so we have more primary fights. Personally I don't care too much. I think the balance is better now than it ever has been as I get killed by tons of different weapons and also use a good variety. Connectivity/lag is a much more important issue.

          • Been a bladedancer and a sniper since week 1. I would keep the current neutral game / super the way they are at the moment. (Bladedancer was to strong with arc bolts) / fire bolts to strong. Etc. Buff primaries, snipers, shotguns to what they used to be. Except FR spear Would be a game of gun-skill Unlike the close the gap with a shotgun, body shot primary meta we have today. Y1 TLW/Sniper vs. Thorn/Felwinters was by far the most fun Meta to date.

          • I kinda like crucible as it currently is to be honest. Only complaint is that I'm not yet used to sunsingers not being the DPS monsters they once were. Other than that I'm cool

            • I wouldn't go all the way back to y1 because there were big problems then. However, primary weapons as a whole have been nerfed so much that most of my deaths these days are to one hit kill weapons. Primaries are too weak to challenge special weapons at most ranges.

              • Mostly agree. I kept changing primaries during IB, then constantly pulled out the fusion to actually get kills. Had to camp to complete primary/precision bounties.

              • Loved the AR Meta from Y1. My Shadow Price and Vanquisher always went toe to toe with those Suros Regimes.

              • RIP cross map, 2 shot last word kills in 0.3 seconds In all seriousness, I enjoyed everything in year 1 crucible. Primary's felt great as well as specials and heavies. Most balanced time I have seen PVP was combined arms in the thorn/ last word era.

                      • the while point of not having a fast time to kill is to give players time to react. in cod you can't react to someone shooting behind you very well so you will most likely die. in destiny there is more tactical decisions on what to do if you are bring shot at

                      • In my mind this is the best meta there has ever been. I can use any type of primary depending on the map and do well. I'm a sidearm user and finally feel that I can compete with shotguns. Snipers are still annoying but I try and take as much special ammo away from them as possible and there are definitely less snipers now.

                          Yes! Where are the primary standoffs? That was always my favorite part of the crucible. I used to love running around lone-wolf and coming up against an enemy 1-on-1, primary fight. Now, you either run into a shotgunner or sniper. And, even if they have their primary ready, If you hit first, they bolt. Hardly anyone stands toe-to-toe anymore. Though, i can say, I was playing on my son's profile last night, to get at least one of his characters to rank 5 IB, since he doesn't get to play much, and he's not the best at crucible. But, he was wanting the gear and was bummed that he wouldn't be able to play until this weekend. Anyway, he started off at like a 0.65 actual k/d, but 0.7 due to rounding. So, i was playing on his profile and a lot more of those guys would stand toe-to-toe with their primaries. So, I had a lot of fun. I'm not much higher than that on the k/d ladder myself, but I think that as the higher you get on the k/d ladder, the less and less you find people that will stand off with their primary against you now. They're all more worried about padding their k/d and egos, than having any actual fun.

                        • People challenged in Year 1. They weren't afraid of gunfights. People camp in Year 2 and essentially main their secondary, or sit on map borders with MIDA or Grasp. It's not fun. Nobody challenges. If you try to challenge them, they run away.

                        • Thorn snipers and Shotpackage warriors can stay in Year 1. the only thing i really miss is my Messenger two bursting someones face off. shes just sitting in my vault waiting for a pulse buff on high impact/low RoF archetype. #FingersCrossed

                        • I'd rather be killed by a blink shotty, shot package/pre-patch rangefinder shotty, final round efrideet, mapped by thorn/TLW than anything in this rubbish Year 2 meta.
