The Gravemind VS Oryx, the Taken King - to the death
If these two were to engage in a fight to the death, who would ultimately be the last one standing?

And oryx can take anything that isn't living light. So oryx can take a grave mind. So long as s single spore exists more flood can be made. So long as oryx isn't inside his throne room he can return. If the grave mind was from the times of forrunners they'd have precourser tech which basically makes them god. When oryx takes a being he breaks their free will and removes all emotion. They exist in bliss but have no control as their will is now oryx's. The act of taking a grave mind might not be so simple since it's literally several hundreds of beings conciousness into one. But we don't know much about the process to begin with. And a lot of what destiny has is very ill defined or flavor text. Like for instance the nova bomb is said to have the power of a collapsing star. Which HAS to be flavor text. Otherwise your basic boss is stronger then anything to ever exist. Where as with the flood we have a better understanding of them. I guess it would come down to if being infected counts as being killed. Because if it does oryx can return. If it doesn't then I think flood win. EDIT: I should say flood can take any living thing if it has sufficient biomass and a central nervous system. If the hive/oryx have one then they can infect him/them.

Since they can't really solve each other, it's a battle of attrition. The Flood are really good at fighting those kinds of fights.

This is all dependent on whether or not this takes place in Oryx's thrown realm. If it does, he doesn't stand a chance. If not. Then oryx will eventually win

Oryx would win, apparently they aren't made up of cells, which are required to be infected. Also, he can just clap and kill all the flood in a room

Oryx is more or less deathless, so long as he's killing things. Is the Gravemind is throwing Flood at him, he has plenty of things to kill and/or Take. I'm fairly certain Oryx would win without too much effort. That being said, the Gravemind could win by "starving" Oryx to death. If the Flood ran around zombifying just about every living life form that's.. Well, alive, only to withdraw, and retreat until Oryx's worm consumes him. That would work, so long as the Flood could effectively run away. But other than that, I don't think Flood can zombify Taken (semi-ethereal), but I think Taken could Take Flood.

Well, Oryx has Space Magic and the Gravemind only has Space. I'm pretty sure that an infection form wouldn't be able to infect Oryx because of this. Oryx would be pretty evenly match with the gravemind if they were in the "real" world, but if they were in the ascendent realm Oryx would definitely win. [spoiler]This is because he has near unlimited power there and the Gravemind has no light to counter it. [/spoiler]

Well, as long as oryx doesnt take the gravemind, gravemind can rip oryx to shreds with its tentakles, only for oryx to come back in an endless cycle, if oryx takes the gravemind, oryx wins that battle, but the flood just make a new one, also an endless cycle. If its just 1 time, whoever loses dies and cant come back/be remade, then it depends on the taking situation

Well its hard to compare. There are numerous graveminds and they arent meant for combat only as a command center. Of organics. Light a match on it and you have a bbq Does not deteriorate its power to be a bastion of all knowledge and memories of targets it consumes. A weath of so much information is a threat to anything. 1v1 i hardly see it

Guys I love Halo too but come on. If it's alive and not literally animated by Light (means the Traveler and guardians) then Oryx can take it. Oryx can take anything the Flood can produce.

1 ReplyBoth can be infinite in their own ways. The flood infestation always can create more graveminds... Oryx comes back to life if killed outside his throne. Unless it's one death and done. The battle has the potential to go on forever.
