Petition for Bungie to include players in balance discussions

We all know that there have been some things that were in need of balancing out—(Bladedancer, Stormcaller, Sunbreaker, Thorn)—but there have also been times when they have completely Effed something up and later reversed the change. Auto rifles and the Sunsinger subclass being the two most obvious examples. So this petition aims to have them include us, the players of this great game, in their discussions at least a little. Example: Throwing Knives Bungie: We see that there has been an increase of players getting one hit precision kills with the throwing knife in PvP on low armor enemies. We have done the math and by lowering the damage by X% this becomes impossible. However, we want to know if people think a one hit precision kill on low armor enemies is a fair trade off for players who CHOOSE to sacrifice armor in favor of Agility/Recovery. POLL Yes, lower the Damage - 44% No, it's a fair trade off - 56% We'd like to thank everyone who took the time to vote. It seems more fans agree that if someone is making the conscious decision to sacrifice armor for Recovery/Agility then a well placed throwing knife to the face is a fair kill. However, we don't want a huge influx of players getting across the map Throwing Knifed. This isn't Call of Duty. So we will be lowering the throwing knife aim assist. This way those well placed throws will simply need to actually be well placed. End scene. And this doesn't simply apply to hunters. Imagine if they had simply asked if lowering the damage on hammers was necessary or if it was simply the huge health recovery that was the problem with most players? Or if it was necessary to have the firebolt grenade nerfed to hell ON TOP of completely changing Viking funeral? TL;DR Bungie, we all love ya but we think it'd be better to have open conversation about some of the changes you implement instead of your dictatorship sometimes overstepping its boundaries. Signed, Almighty

No. Sadly, fanboy players will scream and wail against even the most necessary nerfs. This happens without exception, even things which are obviously and massively overpowered will have legions of fanboys howling like banshees to try and keep it that way. Unfortunate, but until certain players learn that buffing everything doesn't work our feedback collectively will be almost worthless.

  • I think that Bungie should go through an intense period of testing, combined with player feedback to decide on nerfs/buffs. I remember the original Thorn was a great stealth/tracking/ambush/trap weapon thing or whatever. The poison tracking allowed you to cut off people running or see where they're hiding so you could track them down. People falsely saw it as a run and gun weapon, so Bungie changed it. The problem doesn't seem that the players need to be involved more, but that Bungie should actually see for themselves how this stuff works and decide if it truly needs to be changed.
