Snipers need to be de-scoped

Shooting rounds of your primary into someone should knock them out of scope! Remember Halo snipers? Yeah, back when a battle between 2 players was waged with A primary weapon and not a secondary and the victor simply had more skill! Instead we get a game where a primary's being used, oh wait.... Let me snipe you while your shooting at me!

  • I use the iron banner scout rifle. 3 shot to the head but has massive recoil and slow RoF. I run a max stability role so its OP, and I love when I shoot a sniper twice in the head just for him to quick scope me across the map, or hardscope me because snipers don't have any flinch at all. Nerf snipers.

  • Snipers are not the problem even though i do think they might need like a hold breath mechanic or some weapon sway for them but i digress. the problem is that they nerfed the primaries to a point that you cant dispatch a sniper fast enough before they make a mess of your face so now primaries are barely worth using (with some exceptions of course). For me at least Year 1 was so fast paced but now with the sniper meta it just slows the game down so much,especially with game modes with the level caps turned off (Iron Banner,Trails of Osiris, ect)

    • The only viable attempt at disorienting a sniper that we had was the intrinsic perk on Mida, or if you got lucky enough to get high-cal rounds on a hawksaw/pdx. But hey let's remove that exotic perk because Harry Hardscope's reticle bounces too much when he's getting shot in the head. I digress though

    • I disagree. De-scoping won't help much because of the way AA (aim assist) works in this game. You get someone in your line of sights, AA activates, and your reticle is pulled with them/on them. All they'd have to do is just re-scope on you (which pretty much happens now anyway) and you're dead. What should happen is that either A. their zoom gets forced past it's max when taking damage, or B. they get an accuracy penalty akin to sustained fire. Personally, I'd go for a "Persistence" like mechanic where aiming increases your accuracy over time (think of a circle gradually closing), and taking damage or de-scoping causes your accuracy to bloom significantly. Perks like Hidden Hand or low zoom scopes would offer decreased timers for accuracy increase.

What I am saying is that Halo's movement mechanics and map sizes allowed for snipers to put their range to full use in a fight in which no other weapon could accurately hit them I mean honestly when will you people learn that fixing snipers is more complicated than just nerfing them snipers are how they are due to the abilities of the other guns, the types of maps we have, and the movement mechanics in the game if we turned Destiny snipers into a normal fps sniper then they would actually suck on every map I mean honestly there would almost never be a good time to pull it out

      • This game isn't halo. Descope on snipers wouldn't actually balance the game. The issue that I see with snipers is when I shoot a sniper in my weapons effective range, take then down to a quarter health and they can hail Mary head shot. What i would like see is an increase in sniper flinch with a weapons effective range and conversely reduce flinch as you go further outside of your weapons effective range. Basically make flinch proportionate to damage falloff. So thus way inside say fifty meters you can challenge a sniper with a pulse rifle but as you go outside that range, the finch is reduced with damage falloff. So now at say one hundred meters you shouldn't be effectively challenging a sniper with a pulse rifle. The increase in flinch within effective range would force snipers to either disengage or die. However at the same time you can't challenge a sniper effectively outside of range. That would be the only balance suggestion I can think of. Other than that, stay away from doors and learn to close gaps on snipers. A sniper rifle should be effective in the hands of a player that knows how to use it but it should be able to be countered by players that know the best way to counter. Unfortunately I don't think this game will ever achieve the balance the player base desires. So until then improve your game against snipers. That's what I had to do because I suck at sniping

      • That moment I look at everyone's characters who are complaining about snipers and see they are all using haw saw and shotgun----___---... If snipers are soooooo good y do you all use shotguns

        • Or you could just buff primaries because snipers are actually fine. People rarely complained about them compared to now between TDB and HoW.

          • I don't think one needs to be de-scoped but the flinch needs to be adjusted. It SHOULD be almost impossible to snipe me from AR range while being shot in the face with high caliber rounds yet it happens all the time. Snipers are designed to be high power, long range weapons so if you cross map head shot me, it doesn't bother me one bit. If you're hard scoped and I pop around a corner and start shooting bullets into your mouth, sniping should be next to impossible. Sidearms good at short range horrible at long Shotguns same as Sidearms Fusion rifle depends on the fusion but generally same as shotguns and sidearms Snipers good at long range and at short range. That doesn't seem right.

            • Either that or add idle sway that has to be steadied. As of now there's no penalty for back of the map non confrontational pussies who don't PTO or do anything to help the team. Why they decided to nerf aggressive sniping and not what everyone was getting fed up with is completely ass backwards. That and shotgun warriors who can run at 100% while sponging bullets from all the primary nerfs and 1 shot you is making Destiny PVP the most annoying it's been IMO.
