Iron banner playing against full fireteam
Almost every game I have played in iron banner is definitely dominated by a full fireteam, or at least a group of 3-4 players , and you can immediately feel it, it's very difficult for a solo player to compensate for that.
I have nothing against people that like to play with friends as fireteam, but how am I supposed to compete with that?

i've been up against fireteams of 3 and 4 and i'm still getting first place solo.

1 ReplyPlayed a lot earlier solo versus fireteams of 6. It is a little bit of their pushing together but problem i found is fireteams of a number of players seem to have a few go god mode as basically lag compensating for worst connection. If a level playing field can be fun but one or two laggers in party (which is not unusual) and game so lopsided just annoying.

7 RepliesWhat are you asking for? Bungie can't make friends for you. Just go in solo if you don't have a team and do your best. Work on your bounties and don't worry about it you will get them done. It's only a game have fun.

1 ReplyThis is a bigger issue in smaller game modes like 3v3 and 2v2s. While I don't mind teams it sucks when you go into a match where mercy hasn't been enforced on the team that is loosing by at least 3000+ points with only one other person, or you being the only person it's very disheartening, and really makes me think about what they could do to not have this dumb issue. In addition to going in on a loosing team, the fireteam that you're up against has supers charged, both heavies taken, and complete special box control. At that point you're almost shit out of luck. For instances like that I can justify leaving the game to look for a new one....But then you do and you end up back on that same god damn team. Wtf.

I'm only playing this iron banner for a decent roll on my Weyloran's and if I do get one or not, I'm sticking to trials for PVP, seeing as that's the only playlist that doesn't have such bad matchmaking.

12 RepliesThe issue is that most players who don't use mics are idiots. When solo queuing I have seen players simply not even attempt to capture control points. It's not uncommon for not a single player to go for the B control point at the start of the game. One player should capture A or C. EVERYONE else should go to B. If I go into iron banner as a 6 man fireteam I can easily win 90% of my games with no players going positive at all.

2 RepliesAs a solo player its best not to worry to much about wins and kd in IB. I play solo, and am on the losing side more often than not, and most of the time it doesn't matter if I have a poor game or a great one. I just focus on my bounties, try to keep a positive kd and accept the loss. The wins come often enough to rank up my IB and as we know you still have just as much chance of getting good drops. I've not got a problem with people in teams, that's how they want to play, but it feels a little better when you do get a win v a team like that, which does happen occasionally.

There seems to be an issue with matchmaking in that if a fireteam leader has a lower MM rating than the fireteam, the mm works on that rating. Pub stomps are back baby

In all honesty mate... its best to just concentrate on kill bounties in that situation and hope the win comes next match lol. But if you haven't already, go check out TrueVanguards youtube (Sorry no link) He has some great vids on exactly this sort of thing. He literally just posted one in the past couple days about being outnumbered in ib. They won't turn you into a 1v6 God but will defo help a bit.

Well if you can pick people from the same geographical area and they happened to be even remotely okay players you have a pretty good advantage over the random worldwide God knows what you're going to get teams

Its not a problem as long as you know what you're in for. Lets face it - you can have 2 teams of 12 random players and still get stomped! If its a team of 4 or less - than I give it an even 50/50 chance (as others have said - going up against a team doesn't mean you'll automatically lose). I play both solo and in a team. When I'm solo I seemed to get matched to players more my level - so my stats are better but team wins seem to be less. In a fire team - we get more wins but get matched against players that are more at the level of our top player - so consequently my stats are middle of the table. What's worse is going up against a full fire team and you don't even have a full team of randoms. I think that worst I even had was a game against a full 5 or 6 person fire team with Osiris emblems and raid gear and we were all solo players but only 4 of us - which stayed that way for the whole game. They split up into 2 teams of 3 and just hunted us down (and with 1 or 2 players dying - we never had 4 healthy players at any one time to match them). I think the match making just gave up trying to find people to play against them! When that happens - quit the cycle and find a different group of random players otherwise the game will keep putting you up against the same fire team repeatedly.

Yep every other game, also they usually get host. I just got put in a join in progress, the top 2 players were red bars, got hit with 3 supers, game ended, every player on my team was negative.

Full fire teams aren't unbeatable. Just play the game and hope you're teammates have some idea of how to play.
