Anyone that played Halo 2 remembers the BxR and BxB.
Successfully pulling off a BxR allowed you to melee your opponent and instantly shoot him, awarding you with a kill.
Successfully pulling off a BxB allowed you to Double melee your opponent, instantly killing them.
Wouldn't it be great to have combos like this added to Halo: Reach?
What was so good about the BxR and BxB?
Well the BxR and BxB allowed for a "clutch" kill in Halo 2. Say you were getting destroyed in a close quarters scenario. If you successfully timed your button combo, you could kill the opponent that originally would have killed you. Say you were caught off guard. No problem, just turn around and BxR/BxB them!
Its similar to pulling off a Ninja/No scope in Halo 3, which are primarily the 2 only "clutch" components to gameplay in Halo 3.
Of course, If Bungie added a BxR and/or BxB type combo to Halo: Reach, if wouldnt be a glitch so it wouldnt be a problem.
Halo needs more "clutch" components to the gameplay. It awards players for being able to pull off things in tight situations.

Why in the world would you even bother will this post? Bungie will never purposely put BXB or BXR back in the game when THEY SAID IT WAS CHEATING. There is seriously no point to this thread because it will never in a million years happen. Fail sorry.
-
Posted by: siahsargus If Bungie put it on the SMG, it would make the SMG a skill weapon, because it does less damage than the AR, and the only way to beat someone in a fight would be the BxR/BxB them.
lolol NEVER have i lost to an ar when I had an smg. you're obviously not using it right if you lose to ar, lawl also, -blam!- the melee glitch [Edited on 05.07.2010 12:00 PM PDT]

Why don't we make CQB even easier for everyone? Fail thread.
Posted by: Methew No.
It was too easy to combo in Halo 2. All you had to know was the buttons, there wasn't much timing needed except for going against a shotgunner.
Posted by: hal0 slay3r661 BxB and BxR's were glitches in halo 2, that's why they wern't in halo 3. i don't think that they are going to put a glitch that allows for unfair kills especially when a lot of people don't know how to actually do the glitch.
I love the sarcasm on these forums. BxB combos coming back? Glitch combos requiring skill? Hah! Man, you guys should really look into becoming comedians or something.
-
Those "combos", although excitingly enough when pulled off, were glitches. Unless they purposely flaw their game, then we won't see these this time around.
-
look having cqb melee combo would destroy balance, why have AR, or shotgun when you can just melee them. plus people complain about melee you dont think this would be considered the same thing. it brakes balance and make mid range weapon overpower since thats all you need. idk... sounds interesting, but you just know if they did make it like that, it would just be another thing people will rant about on XBL and the forums...
-
Those combos were glitches that were in the game unintentionally. I don't think that they will reappear.
-
I wouldn't mind BxR for the pistol.
Posted by: Vicious Truth I'm sorry if what I said was too complicated for you. Equipment isn't a problem for me to handle, I just don't like how it takes no skill to use in game and helps to eliminate tactics from the game. Better?
Not really, they take skill to use. people drop power drains all the time. the only time they do anything is if people know where to drop them. The one that takes the least skill to use is the regen or bubbleshiled. The bubble shield is only a "press x to live" if you are shooting them from a rather large distance. If you know what you are doing (have skill) these items can give you a good tactical advantage. Granted they take less skill to use than most weapons, but some would argue that the rockets take less skill to use than the BR. It's just that they are area affects that make them require less skill to use effectively.

no but i think that when fighting, there should be a little less jumping and more strafing.
-
Lets bring back super jumps also! Or lets leave them both out because they were unfortunate GLITCHES.

Now, even terrible players have a chance and don't even have to put any effort into learning tactics, they can just hit X and move on.
It's rarely just hit x and move on if you are in close quarters pressing x is usually useless as it disables your gun for a second, most equipment takes a second to engage, and by that time you're dead anyway. the only time it is somewhat useful is when you are out in the open and your enemy is far a way. Unless you plan ahead and use equipment strategically it is usually useless to me. Of course I'm an up close and personal kinda guy so if you really want to drop a bubble shied I have no problems walking in and finishing the job, or my favorite walk in, sticky, and walk out so the bubble shield saves me from still being that close to the guy I stuck. My over all point is, if equipment is getting in your way that much, you are probably doing something wrong.
I'm sorry if what I said was too complicated for you. Absolutely not. Those combos broke the balance of the game by allowing Long Range Weapons to easily kill players with close-range weapons, without giving the CQB player a chance to react. This meant that the BR was even MORE broken than it was in Halo 3, because it dominated every single weapon at every single range.
Posted by: Energy Sword Anyone that played Halo 2 remembers the BxR and BxB.
I do. I also remember that it was a glitch. A bug. A flaw. I also know that this isn't The Club or Resident Evil Mercenaries or Street Fighter. I also know that melee combos were scrapped during Halo 2 development, for what reason I'm not sure but I'm sure Bungie knew best, as they do now.

... no. They were glitches, and Bungie does not (along with most of the community) want them back in Reach.
-
when executed effectively, the quad shot can kill people (snaps his fingers once) like that.
