It's no more irrelevant than the revulsion you would feel if, as a baseball player, you learn that the guy who is being celebrated because he threw a no-hitter last night paid off the other team to tank the game. He's getting recognition for cheating. He didn't earn it, and he's being held up for public recognition over players who don't cheat.
That's what offends players like us, who don't cheat. That's why we care.
If you're totally OK with people cheating because it's just a game, then you have no standards. LIFE is just a game. We all agree to play by certain rules. Breaking those rules affects everyone, including you, whether you realize it or not.

just like when i quit playing crucible often in year 1 because of all the sh1tbags boosting thorn bounties with teams of 3 in rumble as if bungies servers weren't enough reason to quit pvp

OMG. You are comparing boosting in a game which has zero ramifications for anybody, to a paid professional sportsman throwing a game wort potentially millions of dollars. What a joke. Surprised this naming and shaming post is still active.

Paid professional sports has zero ramifications for ME. I give exactly 0 shits about pro sports, they're overpaid and ridiculous. On the other hand, this game has ramifications to everyone who plays it, just as pro sports has ramifications to those who play it. THAT was the only comparison I made, if you read carefully- to how the players in each one would feel. I'm surprised, considering how apathetic you say you are to the whole issue, that you feel moved to comment on my post. How does my opinion affect you? Unless you know you're actually wrong, and need to keep arguing to try to prove to yourself how "right" you are.
