Exotic History: The Ally #5 Final
This installment of Exotic History is made in part by Cyber_219 (Alphonze_Elric)
Helen stood perfectly still for a moment as the male voice reappeared again. "Scenario found. Loading scenario now." The ground beneath her shifted to a gentle snow covered ground and snowflakes gently rained from the ceiling out of nowhere. She gazed in wonder as she felt the cooling breeze whip about her as if it was real. "Pretty cool huh?" Cayde said as he grinned. His Ghost let out a loud 'Boo!' as if it were spoken by multiple people. "No pun intended. That wouldn't be very chill of me." His Ghost rammed his shoulder as Cayde laughed. "Alright fine, I'll thaw out of the idea. That was the last one I promise." His Ghost gave an audible sigh and floated over to the railing, watching them with pen and pad in hand. Cayde grinned and looked at Helen. "Well let's see what you got." "W... what?..." Helen stammered. "Oh come on now don't be nervous. No one is watching but me and I don't judge most of the time. You may not have talent now but when I'm done with you, you will be a changed woman." Helen's breath caught in her throat as she shivered a bit. "Ah... ah..." Peg tapped her shoulder and pointed to her right. She looked to see three Fallen Vandals standing no more than ten feet from her. Helen screamed and darted away, hiding behind a the railing near the steps. Peg busted out laughing as Cayde looked at her. "What's gotten your gears in a knot?" "I told you they were here!!" "Who?" "Those... those things!" She pointed terrified at the Vandals. Cayde looked that way. "Oh come on now, they are harmless! Just advanced holograms. They aren't going to hurt you unless they are set to a higher difficulty. Come back over here." Helen stared at the Vandals and they were unmoving and seemed lifeless despite their realistic look. She slowly got up and walked back over to Cayde. He patted her back. "See? Nothing wrong with em. Now shoot them." "Wait what?..." "That's why I brought you here." He held up the hunk of junk that vaguely resembled a gun. "To test this bad boy out, problem is I need someone to kill the things I shoot to test functions. What did you think I was going to do to you?" Helen's blushed furiously. "Nothing at all..." "Good now, draw your weapon and let's get to it." He smiled and slapped her back again before walking a few paces away. Peg gave a sly grin to Helen. "You dirty minded girl you." She disapeared just as Helen swiped at her. "One of these days..." She said as an auto rifle was plopped into her hands. She joined Cayde's side. "Alright rook. Ain't to hard, just kill of the enemies and I'll shot them atleast once to test the system." "Ok..." She aimed down sights and pulled the trigger. The slow firing rifle hit the fake Vandals and killed them after a few shots. Before they died, Cayde fired off a single round or two into them and a surge of warmth spread through Helen. Cayde nodded as the last one died. "Huh. Interesting concept. Health regen on assists." "That's what that was?..." Helen asked. "You felt it? Warm tingly feeling? Not uncommon to stimulation?" She nodded a little. "Yea..." "Interesting..." Cayde looked the gun over some more and more enemies popped up. "No wonder I couldn't use my Ace..." "What?..." "This little hunk o' junk is apparently exotic material." He spun it in his hand and fired off a few rounds, killing a Vandal. "And not a half bad gun in fact." Helen slowly looked over the gun. The Void fluid raced through the tubing and pulsed every so often like a faint heartbeat. It seemed soothing almost. "You want to give a shot?" Helen blinked and looked at Cayde. "Use this?" "Same as an auto rifle, just not full auto." He handed the sidearm to her. "Give it a whirl." Helen gently took hold of the sidearm and aimed down sights. It felt cool in her hands and a bit heavy for such a small thing. She pulled the trigger and it kicked like a mule, sending her shot wide. She tensed up as Cayde laughed. "Well you can't be afraid of the thing." He placed his hands on her wrist and straightened her posture with his foot. "Stand like that and aim down sights." She nodded and concentrated, pulling a trigger again. It still kicked but she managed to hit a Vandal. "There ya go." Cayde quickly pulled out a hand cannon and killed the Vandal. The warmth pulsed through Helen again as the gun shuddered like a drum being struck. Cayde glanced at her. "That really is interesting." Helen nodded as she started to hand the gun back to Cayde. "Oh no I'm good, no sense in me having it... Mind giving that to Banshee? Gunsmith with dark blue skin and yellow eyes." "Yea I can do that..." She turned and started up the steps slowly. "Oh and Helen? Ever need a volunteer to spare with." He gave her a wink. "You can always count on me." She blushed furiously and quickly left, speed walking down the hallway. She let out a brief bit of steam as she attempted to cool down. "Aww you getting flustered again?" Peg appeared infront of her. "No shush..." "You look flustered. He is kinda handsome for being a goof. But his Ghost is quite charming as well. I'll have to visit him sometime soon." "Please hush..." Helen made her way out of the Vanguard Hall into the main plaza where everything was beginning to pick up in pace. She looked and saw Banshee and slowly walked over to him. He took notice to her from a project he was working on and glanced at her. "Morning Guardian." "Morning... Ah... Cayde said to ah... To to ah... Here..." She set the sidearm on the counter. Banshee looked down at it. "Does it work?" "Yea yea..." "How did it handle?" "It ah... it kicked a bit... and ah..." Helen stammered a reply while Banshee kept a very steady lifeless gaze with some patience. "The... healing worked... yea." "Good good. You going to keep it?" Helen blinked. "I'm sorry wh..." "Take it. If Cayde doesn't want it, none of his lackies will appreciate it for what it's worth, so it will take longer to sell. So you use it." Helen paused and looked Banshee over. "Why?..." "Mostly because I think you will keep the gun from breaking and appreciate it." He nodded to her. "So use it." He returned to his work without a word. Helen stood still for a moment before slowly picking up the sidearm and walking away slowly. Banshee spoke without looking up from his work. "Holster your weapons in the Tower." He watched as she quickly jammed it into her pocket and sped walked away. He sighed and tightened the last part on a pulse. "Rooks... They can make great allies though if used correctly." He continued his work as the Tower slowly can to life as it did every morning. https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/208907738/0/0 link to part 4 https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/172385606/0/0/1 link to The Ally
