Alright so I'm on the rare material collecting part of the solar exotic sword. How the heck do I find those?!

I think it's helium filaments for the Raze lighter? If so, be prepared to lose about an hour, hour and a half of your life running around the moon looking for filaments. Having a ghost with the locator helps. If you're on your Hunter and have the Stillpiercer, will make things go a lot quicker. Otherwise, from my experience, for every 10-15 filaments you collect, you'll get a rare material.

While doing your ability kills, you will get one every (approx.) 10% of your progress.

Get a ghost that highlights the material, speaker sells a few blue ghosts so usefull to check there. Looking through a sniper scope highlights every location for a long range. But just make circles in a area. If you come across a chest, pick it up. You cant get the secret material from them but it helps to spawn new materials in the area. If there are too many chests active, it can even block the spawns of materials. And just grind and wish rng blesses you. So relax and make yourself ready cus it can take a long time.

1 ReplyThe only one that gave me problems was Relic iron. If that one bundle spawns inside the wall by the Cabal base entrance, you cannot get it and the others in the area do not respawn unless you Orbit and come back. For spinmetal, I ran my farming method route by the Divide and finished in about 30 -40 mins. Same with Helium Filaments, about 30-40mins. Really easy with Hunters radar perk, specific ghost shell or a Häkke weapon that has advanced motion tracker perk.

Edited by Antwon: 7/13/2016 10:11:16 AMDepends on which sword but here's a breakdown for all of them: Raze Lighter: Farm Helium Filaments on Moon Dark Drinker: Farm Relic Iron on Mars Bolt Caster: Farm Spin Metal on Earth You literally have to keep farming the materials I just listed until the rare material drops.
-
Helium filaments on the moon, there's a small chance to find the rare materials along with them, chests don't help. Hint: get a ghost that detects it and equip a sniper look through the scope and you'll see all of them in the area.
-
Oh the grind is going to be real for you my friend 😂
-
Start collecting Helium Filaments on the Moon. Don't even bother going for chests since they don't give you the rare materials. Every 10-15 Helium Filaments, you'll collect a rare material called Soliton Flare
-
It depends on what sword that you are trying to get....what element?
-
have fun is all I can say, I have been needing to do the strike for that sword for the last 2 months, but when I got banned from party chat for 2 weeks, don't no why haven't sent any hate mail in a year. and my work schedule and iron banner preference I have not been able to do it.

3 RepliesEdited by erakis1: 7/12/2016 11:14:54 PMEquip a ghost that marks the specific material node you're looking for. Equip a sniper to scan for marked nodes. Use your sparrow as often as you can. Use Mida for extra speed when dismounted. You will get one rare material for about 1/10 node you loot (spinmetal, helium filaments, relic iron) Chests don't count. Stay patient. Take a break if you get mad. ETA (credit Heidegger): keen scout will show material nodes on radar.

To make it much easier, you can buy ghost shells from Speaker that marks the materials from planets for you
-
You collect helium filaments on the moon, if I recall. For some reason farming thise helium filaments was the fastest out of the three places you farm for sword materials.
-
I've also had more luck equipping the sword, too. It's such a grind, but you'll be appreciative when you need to upgrade weapons later and have TONS of planetary materials.
-
It's the same as material farming, but some of the resource nodes drop a special piece. Use a ghost that identifies the material you are looking for. Then use your sniper and scan around the environment. Pick up the materials, move onto the next area. It felt like about 1 out of every 10 or so gave the extra material drop.

Good luck
collecting from the sources on the planet
-
Just follow the people below's advice- you'll probably be getting one every 10-20 materials so get grinding!

2 RepliesEdited by cmburch: 7/12/2016 9:43:02 PMNeed Spinmetal ghost or Keen Scout on hunter or a gun that gives you tracking. Have a buddy help. About every 10-15 spinmetal may have 1 of what you need. Takes about an hour or more.

Edited by louzianaboy: 7/12/2016 9:43:55 PMIf you remember y1 materials farming there's no difference. Hit the planet corresponding your elemental sword. Void sword materials: Mars Arc sword materials: Earth Solar sword materials: Moon It's been awhile so I hope I got the planet's right ;). You might get 1 for every 10 materials that you find. Happy hunting guardian!

Pick up a helluva lot of Helium Filaments
