Is nobody going to talk about Taken Guardians?
I know that it's Bungie's way of giving us super cool gear so that we don't leave them for the Division, but it does raise a lot of questions...
I suppose Oryx could take anything (s)he wanted, but what does that mean for us in the long run? Had (s)he still been alive or comes back to life in some cliche "you-thought-you-killed-me-but-I-cannot-be-killed-silly" scenario, Oryx could essentially copy-paste thousands if not millions of equally skilled enemies that would no doubt overpower us had they simply been given the instructions to.
Fortunately for us, nobody is there to give them orders anymore. Or maybe unfortunately? Depending on the specifics of Oryx's control over the Taken, there would be no reason for the Taken to simply find someone else more powerful than Oryx (the Guardian that killed him/her) or to begin creating their own chain of command. If it's the latter, we're royally blam'd. If it's the former, however, all it takes is one angsty little edgelord player to realize exactly what power he has and turn on the Guardians, the Traveler, and all the people living under it because of his "troubled past" or whatnot.
Basically, these Taken Guardians are timebombs waiting to go off, and their presence here tells us that the Taken threat has only strengthened, not ceased.
May God help us, if he's still up there.

I've thought about taken guardians and their"new"subclasses, but it couldn't work with the story and lore, we would either have to be dead, or someone else has taken power which isn't possible

Also, oryx made the taken through his connection with the deep via temporarily killing his familiar, akka. This then gave him the tablets of ruin and ability of taking. No other hive God has this ability, and every taken excluding quria and malok are willed by his whim. Malok was a dilemma because even though he couldn't make any more taken; he could still potentially control them similarly to how oryx did. But, we killed him before he redirected Oryx's throne to tithe power to him, or his mother. And finally, oryx can't come back in some cliché. We killed him ... using sword logic ... in his throne world. He... he's gone for good. simple as that However you are correct about worrying of other threats of the hive. They are ceaseless after all. There is Nokris, oryx's first born. Then the sisters. Whilst we did kill them in the raid; ir anuk and halak are masters at rebinding their (and unweaving others') quidity. Not to mention they weren't killed in their own throne room Then we can't forget of xivu arath. But the largest threat is most likely Savathūn. She is cunning, and had it not been for a few miscalculations when it mattered; she would've defeated oryx back when he was auryx. (Not be confused with aurash, his original form) She wishes to reach a pinnacle of the sword logic. No, to be that pinnacle. And look. We killed oryx. We are now the holders of the osmium throne. For we are her next most logical target It only worries me more that she has had access to tampering with the vex for centuries. Who knows what power she's struck through that. Perhaps malok didn't fail. Perhaps in his death, he was merely a pawn. So that his mother could have the power of the remaining hive of our system tithed to her; along with some control of the taken. Either way, Savathūn is the next major target we must worry about when it comes to hive. And she is not a force to be reckoned with.

I thought this post was about something else. Like when your in a Taken PoE and your teammates have the Taken armor and you cant tell friend or foe during the fighting and you keep shooting at them by accident (good thing FF is off). Instead this post was about something already laid out. Guardians cant be Taken. Oryx wont come back because we killed him in his court.

The power was not exclusive to Oryx, it was gifted to him so the worm gods could use him as a vessel.

1 ReplyI think you're right remember in a TTK cutscene were Oryx is standing with a knight and he says "I shall take them all" because oryx controlled the taken, and they followed every order to the letter. Is it still possible that the only reason the taken are still a problem after the mission regicide is because they trying to fulfill his last wish?

This would be one of the plot lines in my Destiny RTS.

I already OWN the taken. They are my forces now. I can order them to do anything i like. Like pick me up a pizza or get me beer, yeah beer. Or i could have them all teleport to the tower make them commit suicide by jumping off the map anything really
