What are these servers you speak of????
-
Yep, fanboys are just using it as an excuse to try and wrangle easy wins for themselves. Riot saw through this for League of Legends, and it seems Bungie did too.
-
I mean SBMM is in literally every PVP based game but its only a problem in some games? Its literally a system that takes numbers its given from the servers and says these numbers are closest and mashes then in a lobby together. In simple terms for anyone else who dosent get it, SBMM is a program that says "ooooo these numbers match they go in this bin, oooo these dont match they dont go in the same bin" lol SBMM is the equivalent of a corporate mail sorter.
-
I feel like SBMM isnt the problem, the servers are imo.
The lack of servers you mean... Let's face it. Bungie dont have servers. The best they can do for us right now it making the game 100% CBMM. SBMM needs to go. It's laggy and shit
-
They have plenty of servers... Stop and think about it this way. Without SBMM you have a 50/50 chance of being put in a lobby with people who will completely stomp you out OR youll completely stomp out. Now if the problem is lag that eiher both teams experience or just one its either A, servers or B, the other team is lag switching or jusy plain lagging (which they consider cheater.) Now neither of these are SBMM issues. If everyone is complaining about lag why dont we fix the LAG problem and not remove a good system that just has to work with a bad system. You see the logic? When youre fixing a car cause the engine stops working do you take the engine out and put it in another car? No you ether fix whats broken im the engine or replace the whole engine and keep the rest of the car. People fail to realize SBMM isnt the problem, the cheaters and the bad servers are. And pve is proof the servers are the problem. So many people complain that they randomly lag on perfect connection or get error code spams for no reason. The other day in IB i kept getting "connecting to server" while in match making but my connection was solid all day. Solid 100mb up and down with no packet loss, again only proving bungie has bad servers. And everyone cant seem to put 2 and 2 together to figure our SBMM isnt broken, the servers are.
-
Id rather lose to a skilled player than a laggy one. Everyone would.
-
-
WHICH IS WHY SBMM NEEDS TO STAY AND THE SERVERS NEED TO BE FIXED lol you just said i was right but probably still thimk SBMM is the problem.
-
WHICH IS WHY SBMM NEEDS TO STAY AND THE SERVERS NEED TO BE FIXED lol you just said i was right but probably still thimk SBMM is the problem.
But they will never "fix" the servers. So the solution is to remove SBMM. Stop defending it
-
Ikr. Anyone would think this guys life depends on SBMM staying in the game... smh
-
Lol bungie wont remove SBMM because its not broken, and they wont fix the servers because everyone is blaming SBMM. They wont fix them because barely anyone is complaing at them to fix them. You see the irony in your argument? You want SBMM removed because they wont fix the real issue but SBMM isnt the problem the servers are and no one is actually complaining about the problem. The community jumped to "bungie wont fix the problem so remove this instead" you see how ignorant that is? Instead of ranting to remove something that ISNT broken, rant to fix something that IS broken.
-
We know that SBMM isn't the problem. But we also KNOW that SBMM is making the problem sooo much worse... SBMM needs to go because it's the easiest thing to fix, they can't fix their shithouse servers or just get dedicated servers next week, we have to wait for destiny2 for shit like that... SBMM is aids and it needs to go. SBMM means that my wife can't play crucible with me as I'm a top 1%er and she gets absolutely -blam!- when playing with me, and that's no fun for anyone.
-
They can fix the servers though. What do you think that server maintence is? If they shut the servers down once a week for a few hours at a time they could have them in line in roughly 2 months or so. And they have a whole team made just for mahor issues like this. If the problem isnt SBMM dont touch it, all itll do is create problems down the road much worse then what were dealing with. "Slow and steady wins the race" if bungie would try and work on the servers over a few months everything would smoothen out. Now however temporarily removing SBMM for a short time while they fix the servers wouldnt hurt, but removing such a vital feature for a long period of time can have a heavily negative impact on the game. Right now as destiny stands, its alive because of SBMM. The competitve players might not be happy but its keeping the causal crowd around becauase all the laggers and hackers are put with the good players while the casuals just play with the casuals.
-

The competitve players might not be happy but its keeping the causal crowd around becauase all the laggers and hackers are put with the good players while the casuals just play with the casuals.
Yeah that's entirely untrue. The vast majority of laggers and hackers are low skilled players and need to cheat to compete... so they're down with you guys lol... One thing you cannot deny is that SBMM is destroying team play... low skilled players cannot team up with their high skilled friends because of SBMM they just get stomped. SBMM is NOT a good thing, it destroys friendships and team play (like my wife playing with me) it DOES create more lag, that's undeniable, and it DOES increase load times, that's also undeniable.

Edited by DrLockstock: 7/7/2016 10:12:10 AMWaited for 20 minutes today with a few mates to find either a rift, control, skirmish and clash match. 20 minutes it matched us agaisnt two players who's names i see every day! Now you cant tell me that there wasn't any more than two people playing almost every pvp game mode. We actually ended up playing cod and having heaps of fun. Bullets registering, hit detection was good, no lag. The state of pvp has actually driven us away. Boggles my mind how it keeps getting worse. Im not even a t1 player either. Can't imagine how painfull it is for those guys (and you)
-
Hahaha yeah it's bloody hard here in Australia to find a game that isn't against the same bloody people you Vs every other day. And the wait times... ugh... don't get me started lol.
-
I swear people that live in Australia still use dial up. At least it seems that way haha
-
Hahaha it definitely does seem that way sometimes.

All server issues. everyone says its SBMM but it has no affect on in game gameplay. Lol and no one realizes this. The problem is not SBMM its the bad servers. The issue here is it didnt know who to pair you with probably off of your skill rating the server had no idea on what data to send SBMM so it couldnt do its job.
-
According to what you just said if they get rid of sbmm everything is fine? Because it won't have to compute as much data? Yeah lets do that sounds good. I think ive played agaisnt a total of 30 people this week. Every game i recognize nearly every name. The servers were fine before sbmm was introduced or intensified. So what was the issue then??????
-
The servers have been bad since day one, everyone should know this by now. And as someone else pointed out yes SBMM did make things worse, but no one is actually asking WHY they are just pointing fingers. So why did SBMM make things so bad? Because the servers were always bad and never got fixed. Look at it this way say your console is making a loud noise because of some sort of issues and you put in a disk and the sound gets worse, you dont blame the disk the problem is still the system. The disk just made the situation worse but removing the disk and moving on wth life fixes nothing because the system is still broken and that sound is still there just not as bad.
-
Metaphors ay... You have a dog. It doesn't function as a dog 100 percent but it's a pretty good dog. When the dog is say 1year old someone removes it's back legs. Now it's still a dog and it still kind of does things a dog should be able to do but it takes ages and lags behind all the other dogs. It's gotten to the point where you can't even play with the dog anymore. Now lets say the people who ruined your dog can easily put it's legs back on. Does it fix the problem?
yes
-
That example dosent work because nothing was removed. The arguement here is that SBMM was added and ruined the game. But the game was broken BEFORE SBMM was added it just wasnt AS bad. The dog wasnt ruined before the legs were removed. Removing the legs was what ruined it. SBMM just shows the flaws in the servers, because SBMM cant run properly because the servers are broken.
-
The legs are suppose to resemble the large player base they essentially cut out of match making. If they replaced those numbers the game woukd rapidly improve. I spend 20 minutes finding a game when realistically there could be 11 people playing on my street. No the connections/servers weren't perfect but im sure everyone (except you) would much prefer that version. It was one lagger a week back then.. it's 3 a game now. Everygame, I actually made a one week lag video if you argue that it's not that much. The way lag behaves in this game makes it a joke of a fps. I'm not saying sbmm is all of the problem but it's sure as hell gotta be worth a shot.
-
But what you suggest is settling rather then improvment. "Cut out SBMM and go back to the old problem solved" no the problem still exists. If they fix the servers SBMM can do its job and everyone is happy. Its literally as simple as that. This current flow only caters to casuals and removing SBMM will only cater to the comp players. Now leaving SBMM and fixing the servers literally everyone benefits because everyone plays with everyone of equal skill within your region. Fixing the servers will literally fix half of the issues in this game. Let me ask you this, when we can make the game enjoyable for everyone why are we trying to settle? I want my casual friends to enjoy destiny just as much as i do so why are we not fixing the issue and asking them to just revert to a less broken system? This mind set is whats wrong with the world. "We know how to fix whats wrong but we would just rather settle with a less broken route because its easier" but all this route does is create problems, bungie now sees a dramatic drop on players (yes this actually happened just before SBMM was added because casuals couldnt have fun in fair matches) bungie now risks losing a lot of funding from activision which now thats less funding destiny has not only for live support but for the next destiny as well. All this route does is open way to many doors for problems when in all honestly destiny is better off in ita current state then the old one. You want to cader to a small crowd which can not happen if destiny os to continue moving forward. They HAVE to to cater to the larger side of the community.
